Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary 

Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in the Alipurduar sub-division of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal. Located in the eastern foothills of the Himalayas, the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary along with the Gorumara National Park is famous for the one-horned rhinoceros, elephants and Bengal tigers, spotted deer, sambar deer, bison, wild boar, hog deer and bison.

Things to do at Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary

The skies here form a big part of your tourist spot, with a variety of eagles, Bengal floricans, Indian hornbills, jungle fowl, pea fowl, partridges and more. A variety of eagles such as the crested eagle and the fishing eagle can also be seen.

You can also visit the nearby Gorumara National Park and the ruins of an old fort located inside the Chilpata forest. Since Jaldapara is famous for its numerous elephants, you can ride an elephant through the park. Alternatively, you can also take Safaris available on rent.

River Torsha flows through this rain forest sanctuary and has an elevation of 61 m and an area of ​​61 m. Jalapapara, the vast grassland with patches of riverine forests, was declared a sanctuary in 1941 for the protection of the Great Diversity Forest and the Vauna, in particular the one-horned rhinoceros, an animal threatened with extinction.

The Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, covering 216 km², is a mosaic of grassland, mixed deciduous forest, grasslands and a stocking of broad-leaved adults of grass banks. The Malangi river also recovers from east to west, Naras, Tanga, Malha, and Hilong, and Vahro, and, Jorukauda, ​​and Pari, and, Jokhuri, Bear, and Kalraha, the sanctuaries, wide-ranging mammoths, such as mammoths, Amphibians are the last refuge for a wide variety of reptiles and birds.

Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its rhino population. There are only a few regions where this elusive beauty can be found. Guts of grass, ideal for rhinos provide them natural habitat for their robust survival.

How to reach Jaldapara

By air: Bagdogra is the nearest airport to Jaldapara from where tourists can reach Jaldapara by road via Siliguri.

By Train: NJP is the most important railway station in North East India. NJP is directly connected to all major stations in India. Madarihat is the nearest railway station to Jaldapara. All mail and express trains stop at Birpara/Hasimara railway stations which are well connected to Jaldapara.

By Road: Jaldapara is connected to Siliguri by National Highway and is accessible by car. The entry point for Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is Madarihat.
