TRP scam: “Truth to Power” has been the most misused phrase by the pseudo-intellectuals and leftist media portals. As per their skewed understanding, anything which doesn’t suit their agenda is termed as illegal and inhumane. So, to correct this “injustice”, they indulge in nasty activities, no matter how grave its ugly consequences might be for the nation.

But, the situation becomes worrying when they are hand in glove with the ruling establishment. Apparently, the same ugly nexus of Islamo-leftist lobby and then incumbent Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was witnessed in the alleged TRP scam case.

ED clears the air about the TRP scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has put an end to all the speculations and rumours around the alleged Television Rating Point (TRP) scam case. It has submitted a charge sheet in a special Mumbai Court. In the charge sheet, the agency categorically stated that it has found no evidence against Republic TV in the TRP rigging case.

The agency also highlighted that the Mumbai Police probe was “at variance” with its probe. Earlier, Mumbai Police had named Arnab Goswami and his media enterprise ARG (stand for Arnab Ranjan Goswami) Outliers Media Pvt Ltd as accused in the chargesheet.

However, the ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner exposed all the political agenda behind the direction of the investigation in the case. He had deemed it a hoax. He told ED that the alleged TRP Scam case against the Republic Media network was fake. He confirmed that it was all a part of a political conspiracy against Arnab Goswami and the Republic. Further, he claimed that the arrest of Journalist Arnab Goswami was politically motivated.

Additionally, the ED charge sheet exposed the real perpetrators of the crime. It stated that it has found evidence that some regional and entertainment channels were involved in manipulating the ‘samples’ of TRP. This is in complete contrast to the clamour of the leftist portals and the claims of Mumbai Police.

In November, 2020, the ED had started investigating the alleged TRP scam. It had registered an ECIR (equivalent to the FIR) in this case. Notably, the Mumbai Police had registered an FIR in the TRP case, which prompted the ED to register the ECIR in the TRP rigging case. Along with Republic TV, the Mumbai Police had accused two Marathi channels and some people in its FIR for the TRP scam.

Case Diary

The alleged TRP case started to make headlines in October 2020. At that time, the Mumbai Police had alleged that the TV ratings were manipulated by Republic TV and two Marathi channels. The Mumbai Police accused that they have busted a scam related to TV ratings popularly referred to as ‘TRP Scam’. They alleged that the accused have been manipulating BARC ratings. Notably, BARC is the authority that regulates and measures television ratings in India.

But there is more to it than what meets the eye. The root of this can be traced to earlier shoddy acts, incompetence and revenge politics of the MVA government.

The elaborate case diary

It all started from the MVA government’s incompetence and botched up investigation in the gruesome lynching of the Palghar Sadhus. Till then, the lives of Hindus, particularly Sadhus and saffron clad believers were just numbers to the mainstream media. Nobody dared to speak “truth to power” in such cases.

But as the name suggests, Republic (ARG Outlier media group) stood as an Outlier and asked tough questions to the ruling MVA establishment. The style of politics of then Shiv Sainiks was an open secret and the media channel had to go through several hurdles and threats to run the story on Palghar Sadhu lynching.

Also Read: Shiv Sena wanted to intimidate Arnab. But they turned him a thousand times more powerful

Pertinent to note that unlike the Lutyens media (HQ – Delhi, NCR, film city), Republic is headquartered in Mumbai. The Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami alleged that the ruling government allowed its goons to terrorise him, his family and media colleagues. He also alleged that certain people tried to carry out an acid attack on him.

What transpired after that is still fresh in everyone’s memory. The open challenge and reportage in the Sushant Singh Rajput case broke the valve of revenge politics. Allegedly, the MVA government tried to crush the “Nationalist” Channel for relentlessly pushing the SSR case and stating “truth to power”.

The alleged TRP scam case, arrests, Anvay Naik suicide case and host of other criminal cases were a byproduct of this alleged revenge politics of the MVA government.

Further, the desperation of the MVA government was evident from the fact that it booked the entire staff of the Republic under an archaic law. Evidently, Republic TV staffs were booked in an FIR for “inciting disaffection” among the Mumbai Police.

Ironically, the key officers who tried to frame this alleged political conspiracy against Arnab Goswani and his “nationalist” channel, are themselves behind bars or in suspicion for grave charges of “corruption” or planting bomb outside Antilla. It seems that they are now facing the wrath of their alleged misdeeds and karma has come back to haunt them.

The latest revelation by the Enforcement Directorate in the special court hints that the well planned conspiracy hatched against Arnab Goswami and Republic have boomeranged miserably on the MVA government and the leftist lobby who jumped on their bandwagon.
