In his domestic career he played for Tamil Nadu in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 season. In 2007-2008 season he played for Assam in domestic. In the year 2001 he played his last Test in Sri Lanka.
In the year 1999, for his fine displays in Test cricket, Ramesh was named the Indian Cricketer of the Year. In his cricket career he played 19 tests and scored two centuries and eight fifties.
