The world is witnessing India’s growth drastically over the past few years, leaving its neighbours in a dilapidated situation. At one, Pakistan-based terrorists infiltrating into its neighbours’ territories is not a new phenomenon, and at the other, China explicitly supporting Pak-based terrorists in the UN is not something new either. As a matter of fact, China has become the biggest protector of terrorists, as it has been evidenced once again.
China is explicitly supporting Pakistan’s terrorism
In a recent report, it was revealed that China has blocked a move by India and the USA in the United Nations (UN) to blacklist Hafiz Talha Saeed, son of Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed.
At the United Nations, India and America have been trying to impose sanctions through the international peacekeeping organisation on extremist organisations and their leaders present in Pakistan for years. But China, being one of the five permanent members of the United Nations, has vetoed these efforts on several occasions.
It is the fifth time in the last four months that Beijing has foiled any proposal to take action against Pakistan-based terrorists. Notably, in the last two decades, Pakistan and China have been hell-bent on increasing their diplomatic ties in the hope of challenging the Indian powers. The dragon and its sinking masquerade companion, on the other hand, are too short-sighted to see a growing India.
In the aftermath of China blocking the list of Pakistan-based LeT terrorists, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on Thursday, “Geopolitical divides make it difficult for us to work together effectively against terrorism.”

Terrorists that China gave an opportunity to
The latest block came late in the UN regarding Hafiz Talha Saeed, a key leader of the LeT and son of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed. In April 2022, he was declared a terrorist by the Indian government. Reportedly, the Home Ministry said that Hafiz Saeed has been actively involved in recruitment, fund collection, planning and executing attacks by the LeT in India and Indian interests in Afghanistan.
The terrorists’ list that China blocked at the United Nations to support Pakistan also included LeT leader Shahid Mahmood as a global terrorist. Additionally, the US Department of Treasury had designated Mahmood and another LeT leader, Muhammad Sarwar, in December 2016 as part of the action “to disrupt LeT fundraising and support networks.”
In June this year, China vetoed the blacklisting of Pakistan-based terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki, a US-designated terrorist. He is also the brother-in-law of Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT) head and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed.
Furthermore, in August of this year, China put a hold on blacklisting Abdul Rauf Azhar, the senior leader of the Pakistan-based terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM).Cumulatively, the US and India did try to blacklist the terrorists, but China came out as a supporter of terrorism.

In September, Beijing again blocked the proposal to designate LeT terrorist Sajid Mir, wanted for his involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, as a global terrorist. Sajid Mir is one of India’s most wanted terrorists and also has a bounty of US$5 million by the US for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Earlier in June this year, he was jailed for over 15 years in a terror-financing case by an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan.
As a matter of fact, China is backing the terrorist nation for all the wrong reasons. From one perspective, it’s because China wants to surround India from all possible borders. However, that is unlikely to happen, keeping the bold Indian power of retaliation in mind. Additionally, China is well aware that at any point of the day, the Pakistani terrorists could take Uyghur Muslims on their side and create a state of permanent civil war in China.
The Xi Jinping administration does not seem to care about anything. With its ultra-offensive diplomacy, China has pushed almost all of its regional neighbours away from itself. Whether it’s ASEAN, SAARC, BRICS, or SCO, there is no forum left where China has not been rebuked for its tactics.

On the other hand, even the US seems to be an enabler of terrorism. As reported earlier, the United States of America proposed a sustenance package for F-16s to Pakistan. In response to this, New Delhi expressed its displeasure, in contrast to 2016, when the MEA issued a statement expressing its “disappointment” at the planned sale of F-16s.
It can now be seen clearly that China is the biggest supporter of terrorism, with the partnership of the US as the biggest enabler of terrorism. The world economies are dilapidated with the burgeoning growth of India and thus support these tactics. However, it’s time for them to realise that India is now capable enough to retaliate in the same way that terrorists understand.
