So Ferozpur SSP was behind the critical lapse in PM Modi’s security

In a democratic society, a Prime Minister is considered the most reputed and valuable official. If anybody tries to breach his security, they definitely invite the wrath of law. Today, the case in point is the January security breach of PM that happened in Punjab.

The culprit behind PM’s security lapse

Recently, a committee appointed by the Supreme Court accused a perpetrator of a critical security lapse during the Prime Minister’s visit to the state of Punjab. The culprit was identified as the then Ferozepur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), who was responsible for the probable harm caused to the Prime Minister’s security.

The committee formed for the investigation was headed by former Supreme Court judge, Justice Indu Malhotra, who said SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans failed to systematically organize the security along the Prime Minister’s route.

The Chief Justice of India N V Ramana, heading a three-judge bench that also comprised Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli, read the report submitted by the committee.

While considering the core details of the report, the CJI said, “There was a sufficient time of approximately two hours from 10.20 onwards when G Nageshwar Rao (Additional Director General of Police) informed (Hans) that the Prime Minister would be taking the contingency route and the route should be adequately strengthened. Despite clear instructions from G Nageshwar Rao, at least 2 hours before the Prime Minister entered district Ferozepur, the SSP Ferozepur failed to act upon the instructions of G Nageshwar Rao.”

The submitted report mentioned that the Ferozepur SSP was unable to discharge his responsibilities of maintaining law and order. “He failed to augment and strengthen the route in Ferozepur even though there were sufficient forces available with him.” Additionally, the report also included recommendations for enhancing the Prime Minister’s security while on tour.

PM Modi under hazardous security breach

As reported by TFI in January, the PM Modi’s convoy was stuck on a flyover in Punjab for nearly 20 minutes. The cavalcade was stuck and gradually private cars were seen approaching, which was a severe security breach. In addition, the PM was not able to address the scheduled rally in Punjab’s Ferozepur.

Usually, during a Prime Minister visit, some of the top authorities including the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and DGP of the state accompany the PM. However, none of them were present at that moment with PM Modi. Though the cars reserved for the Chief Secretary and DGP were part of the PM’s cavalcade, but without the assigned dignitaries in them.

According to reports, the Punjab Police apparently leaked the road route to BKU protestors, who further planned their presence over the route, causing the major chaos.

The critical tactic behind PM’s security lapse

India, being an incessantly growing nation where its rival countries are desperately looking for opportunities to obstruct its growth, the lapse in PM’s security cannot be afforded. Considering cautiously, it should be noted that the Pakistani border was close to the place where the PM’s security fault occurred.

The Punjab government and Congress were allegedly in close cooperation with the protestors who were out and about to inflict some serious damage to PM Modi. Believe it or not, Prime Minister Modi survived a close call. Apparently, it was a clear attempt of assassination.

Can the world’s fifth largest economy afford its Prime Minister’s security error? Can the people of a democratic country be secured, when its own PM is not? Considering these questions, its significant to understand the political tactics by the oppositions, who are hell- bent causing harm to the PM for the sake of their dirty politics.

Congress, being the then ruling party of Punjab, was responsible for PM’s security but the Congress hates Prime Minister Modi to the extent that it can risk his life.

The Congress has made a mockery out of PM’s security lapse in Punjab. It did nothing when the Prime Minister’s life was endangered enroute Ferozepur. What’s even worse, its entire ecosystem celebrated the security lapse, clearly laying out the ill mentality of the party.
