Rajshri Deshpande Biography and Career

Actress and activist Rajshri Deshpande is of Indian descent. With her performance of Laxami in Pan Nalin’s Angry Indian Goddesses, she garnered widespread recognition. Rajshri Deshpande is a famous television and film celebrity and she worked in so many movies, this biography article is incomplete without talking about her films and shows. So here you will gain info about her films and projects.

Deshpande made her Bollywood debut in the 2012 film Talaash, which starred Aamir Khan. Later, in 2013, she switched to television, where she made appearances in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and 24: India. She made her big-screen comeback with a minor part in Salman Khan’s Kick. In 2015, she also had an appearance in the Malayalam film Haram, playing two roles.

Her depiction as Laxami in Pan Nalin’s Angry Indian Goddesses gave her a larger platform in Hindi film. The movie won the People’s Choice Award and the First Runner-Up Award at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Rome Film Festival, respectively.

2017’s Sexy Durga, directed by Sanal Kumar Shashidharan, featured Deshpande in the starring role. At the Rotterdam Film Festival, the movie took home the Hivos Toger Award.

In January 2018, she made her digital debut in James Watkins’ McMafia on BBC One. Deshpande also appeared in the Anurag Kashyap-produced Netflix series Sacred Games. She portrayed Subhadra in it, and she received appreciation for her work as the spouse of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character.

In Nandita Das’ Manto, she later played Ismat Chughtai.

Rajshri Deshpande also portrays Manju in the BBC One drama McMafia. Deshpande won praise from critics for her portrayal of Subhadra in Anurag Kashyap’s Netflix series Sacred Games. In the movie Manto, directed by Nandita Das, she portrayed Ismat Chughtai.

In Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Rajshri Deshpande was born into a working-class family. Of her three siblings, she is the youngest. She graduated from Symbiosis Law School with a law degree, and Symbiosis International University awarded her a masters degree in advertising.

She entered the advertising field to support herself but quickly realized acting was her true calling. She also holds a filmmaking certification from Mumbai’s Whistling Woods International.

Sacred Games: She caused a sensation when some viewers claimed she was a porn star because the program featured a nude sex scene. The actress retorted that she was innocent of all charges.

At the age of 17, Rajshri Deshpande began working while attending Symbiosis Institute in Pune to study law. After years of hardship, Rajshri had acquired enough wealth by 2003 to operate an advertising business called “Czar Content” and enjoy all the comforts of life.

Deshpande has volunteered his time for several charitable projects.

Rajshri Deshpande collaborated with an international NGO in one of the communities following the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Also in 2015, she adopted the village of Pandhari, which is prone to drought, in the Marathwada district of Maharashtra.

In this village, she organised a rainwater collecting project, constructed bathrooms, held community motivational camps and health checkups, and established an eco-sensitive school.

She established the Nabhangan Foundation in 2018 to expand her efforts for long-term village development. She has been an integral part of Citizens for Tomorrow, actress Juhi Chawla’s non-profit organisation fighting plastic waste, for the past few years.
