Government shouldn’t have removed Mughal references from NCERT books, it should have published the truth

Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. So, it becomes a duty to pass on the correct history to the next generation. In order to protect them we should not try to erase dark chapters of history, rather should prepare them enough so that it doesn’t happen again. We should not fall into the trap of “Ostrich strategy”. It is a misconstrued fact that Ignorance is bliss, no it is not. Without knowing the true extent of cruelty in the past we can never prepare ourselves enough if it repeats in the future.

Rationalisation or Ostrich Strategy

In a bid to rationalise the syllabus, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has slashed several portions from History books. While some chapters on Islamic invaders have been completely removed, some chapters have been reduced slightly. On the surface, this seems to be a good move. But after correctly analysing you will realise the importance of why we should be taught the unaltered and true history of these barbaric Mughal invaders.

What are the changes made in the recent ‘Rationalisation’ and NCERT claim?

The Indian Express has analysed the changes after comparing nine current history textbooks for class 6 to class 12 and the proposed changes. As per the report, several topics related to the Muslim rulers have been changed or reduced. Several pages on Delhi Sultanate, ruled by dynasties like Mamluks, Tughlaqs, Khaljis, Lodis and Mughal Empire have been reduced from the 7th class history textbook “Our Pasts – II”. In 11th class textbook, ‘The Central Islamic Lands’ chapter has been dropped from the syllabus. A minor change has been made in a chapter named ‘Mughal Empire’. It has now been changed and mentioned as ‘Mughal’.

As per the NCERT this rationalisation has been done to reduce the stress of studies which has been affected badly by the Covid Pandemic.

Voice to Truthify History

The changes should have brought forth the true history of that dark period. How the barbaric Mughal and other invaders plundered the Indian nation and undertook forceful mass conversions. It should have taught about their atrocities on the common people and the warriors who stood against them to end their tyranny.

The Invaders should have been exposed in textbooks. Their gory realty should have been told to everyone. How in the name of Religion they savaged the land and were akin to monsters in man’s flesh.

The NCERT should have had the foresight to teach the real history of these barbaric savages to students who only wanted to see the decimation of Hindus. Without mentioning their cruelties thoroughly the coming generations would not be able to know the bigots these invaders were. The history of Halaucaust are taught around the world just like that we should not shy away from the dark chapters to present a roosie picture of the past.

Include Indian dynasties

Earlier on 10th June, the Union Home Minister released a book on the legendary warrior kings of Mewar. At the book launch, he echoed the need to reclaim the true history. He accepted the fact that the history has been written as a hagiography of the Mughal. It has sidelined great warrior dynasties of India. He went on to say that nobody can stop us from writing history.

Learning about the dangers of hatred and discrimination in the past is important to fighting intolerance and prejudice in today’s world. Studying the atrocities provides opportunities to explore and inspire with stories of courage and adversity, upstander behaviour and resilience.

Minor altercations in the distorted history will not solve the problem, instead it will exaggerate the miseries in the future. Instead of cherry picking and minor tweaking the history has to be reclaimed. History after Independence has been distorted by the Islamo-leftists ‘distorians’ to fulfil their nefarious agendas and project Indian civilisations as a weak class which always lost to the invading class. All these changes have to be incorporated so that the history is written based on truth without the malice of political biases and political correctness. Ignorance is not a bliss and everyone should learn the true history no matter how much horrific it was.
