The loss in the assembly election has not gone down well in the SP camp. Two important leaders of the party seem to be shaky and critical of the party itself. The alliance partners have always ditched the Samajwadi Party after doomsday in Election. In 2017, Congress and SP broke ties, in the 2019 general election, Bua Ji was upset with Samajwadi party members’ attitude and failure in vote transferring and left his side. Now the turn has come for his party members to rub salts on Akhilesh Yadav’s wounds.
The New Critic
Samajwadi Party leader and Sambhal MP Shafiqur Rehman Barq has launched a blitzkrieg against his own party SP. During the conduction of voting for MLC elections, the MP was quizzed by the media persons. In exchange for a question, he made a subtle potshot at his party supremo. He said if the accusations of administration threatening Pradhans, levelled by Akhilesh Yadav is true, then it is wrong but if not then he should not use such kind of propaganda. Later the attack on the party was more direct. He said to leave BJP, the SP party itself is not taking care of the Muslim issues and rights. To cover up his dirt he said the government is of BJP and they are doing work but not for the Muslims.
Earlier in 2017, the controversial MP Shafiqur Rehman’s grandson was not given a ticket by the Samajwadi Party, and he joined All India Majlis E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). The AIMIM party is led by Asaduddin Owaisi who too has attacked Former CM Akhilesh Yadav. Owaisi said Akhilesh was made CM because of the Muslim votes but he did nothing for the welfare of Muslims.
Chacha-Bhatija (Nephew-Uncle) feud
Both of them don’t like each other even a little bit and their rivalry is an open secret. In 2017, Uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav felt cheated and left the Samajwadi Party, forming his own political front which proved to be one of the reasons for the SP’s loss in the 2019 General election. After silencing his conscience, Akhilesh did manage to stitch an alliance with his uncle in the recently concluded election, but the political relationship too couldn’t last long.

Shivpal Yadav was disregarded and was not given an invite to the Samajwadi Party legislative meet. Strong reports suggest that Shivpal Singh Yadav is in talks with BJP for his political future and with no rejection or condemnation by Shivpal, it is quite possible that he may join BJP or merge his party with the BJP.

The infighting within Congress, appeasement politics, a perception of becoming a Muslim party and its detachment from on-ground issues has led to its obliteration. The party has failed twice to even get the leader of the opposition post in the Lok Sabha. The same things are being repeated by the Samajwadi Party and the party Supremo doesn’t seem to pay head to this predicament and the fortune of the party is slowly moving to doomsday. The tactical shift in the Muslim voting pattern in Bihar and the success of AIMIM on 5 assembly seats also hint that Akhilesh Yadav can’t just sit complacent on his father’s MY legacy and let this infighting grow.
