A former student of Aliah University, assaulted vice-chancellor Mohammed Ali
Ever since Mamata stormed to power in May last year, it has been a reign of terror where state-sponsored killings have become the norm. Mamata is least interested in the future of students in her state. The education system has also become corrupt and a recent incident proves the same.
University’s vice-chancellor assaulted by a former student leader
A video is making rounds on social media. In the purported video, a former student of Aliah University, Ghiasuddin Mondal can be seen abusing and assaulting vice-chancellor Mohammed Ali. Reportedly, Mondal along with 20 supporters sloshed into the vice-chancellor’s room on Friday to threaten him with dire consequences if the names recommended by him are not included in the Ph.D. list.
Notably, Mondal was expelled in 2018 from the Aliah University.
The video of the incident threatening Ali and abusing him went viral on Saturday. In the viral video, Mondal is threatening to kill Ali and the latter can be seen seated on a chair in his office.
A university official reported, “They stayed in the VC’s chamber for hours and before leaving, and threatened to return if the list was not revised. They alleged manipulation on the part of the Aliah University administration.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Surya Pratap Yadav said that the matter came to light after the Technocity police received a complaint from another student Asifur Rahman on Friday.
“When the complainant reached the scene, he saw Mondal and his supporters abusing, assaulting, and threatening Ali with dire consequences. It was only after the complainant and a few other students intervened that they were able to rescue the vice-chancellor. Based on the complaint, Technocity Police Station registered a case on Sunday,” Yadav said.
However, Mondal has been arrested from the university on Sunday.
What comes as a shocking development is that he was also a former district unit president of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad. It is the ruling TMC’s student wing.
Aliah University officials told, “Mondal was expelled from the varsity in 2018 for allegedly indulging in ‘unethical activities’. Incidentally, the university administration had recently announced that Ali’s tenure as the vice-chancellor would be extended.”
The incident has led to severe criticism from opposition parties including the BJP and the CPI(M).
“Such hooliganism of student leaders inside the campus which I have also experienced can’t be tolerated. As a teacher, I feel ashamed to see how a vice chancellor has been abused. He appears to be a sober and nice human being, hence remained calm and silent. If I was there I would have slapped him right away,” said BJP’s state president Sukanta Banerjee.
CPI (M) leader Sujan Chakraborty said, “They cannot be called students. They are hooligans. There can’t be any mercy to such an act.”
However, TMC’s student wing President Trinankur Bhattacharya has claimed that there is no association of the party with the accused. He stated, “The accused, Ghiasuddin Mondal has no connection with us. As per my information, some outsiders are responsible for the extremely unfortunate and unprecedented incident.”
Bengal is paying for Mamata’s politics
The pain of post/pre-poll violence incidents in the 2021 assembly elections haunts the people of the state. Before polls, party workers were killed in Taliban-esque style. A lot of political workers connected to RSS and BJP have been killed in broad daylight by the goons. Despite creating so much fear, TMC did win the election, but Mamata herself lost her seat. Moreover, the margin of TMC’s victory was significantly less.

The main reason behind the sprawling violence in Bengal is the advent of Islamists from neighboring Bangladesh. The main pillar of Mamata Banerjee’s election campaign is the appeasement of Muslims for which she relies on providing legitimacy to illegal Bangladeshis in the state.
Mamata Banerjee knows that locals are not very supportive of her, so she brings in illegal immigrants and grants them favorable treatment along with citizenship. Later these illegal migrants become a loyal voter base for the party which brought them in (TMC in this case).
Mamata’s politics is already costing Bengal too much. In such a scenario, it was needed that the education system runs smoothly to ensure the bright future of innocent students. However, TMC has seemingly ruined education too and it is disheartening to witness students becoming victims of Didi’s politics.
