How dare they talk about the pain of Kashmiri Hindus? We will now talk selectively about the pain of Muslims! And we will start with Gujarat. But we will do so using your money because we don’t want to use our coffers to tell the story of the Muslims of Gujarat. And conveniently leave Hindu victims…!
We are not saying this. This is what The Quint is up to these days.
On March 11, Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ hit theatres across India. The film, which tells the story of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide at the hands of Islamists was an instant success. The Kashmir Files exceeded the expectations of the producers too, as it went on to earn a whopping Rs 240 crore at the Box Office in three weeks. The Kashmir Files has moved Indian audiences like no other film. People now realise the imminent threat of Islamism staring them in the face. Indians now know how the ongoing demographic war can have devastating consequences for them.
And so, The Kashmir Files has created an aware citizenry. Of course, liberals are petrified by the thought of somebody else occupying, nay, dominating the narrative space of India. How dare a nationalist make a film that talks about the brutal crimes of Islamists? Liberals now feel the need to counter the rise of nationalist filmmakers and narrative moulders, which is why the Quint has come up with a special project.
The Quint’s ‘Gujarat Files’
How dare someone talk about the genocide of Hindus and minorities in Kashmir? What if filmmakers now begin telling the story of every genocide that Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains have faced in India at the hands of Islamists? That would be catastrophic for the liberal ecosystem, won’t it?
To prevent such a scenario, The Quint needs ₹ 4,32,000. That’s right, this media organisation needs over four lakh rupees. Why you might ask? Well, it wants to tell you the story of Muslims in Gujarat, particularly those that are alleged victims of the 2002 communal violence of the state.
But here’s the catch. It wants you, as in the consumer to pay up. Why should the Quint spend a dime for the supposed cause of Muslims, when malleable Indian liberals can be baited into coughing up the required cash?
Four days before the release of The Kashmir Files, this portal seems to have caught the scent of its ecosystem’s impending doom. This is why, it published an emotional appeal to its viewers, saying, “In 2002, Gujarat witnessed one of the most gruesome communal riots since India’s independence…Thousands of homes and business establishments were set ablaze, shops were looted, and women and children assaulted in full public view in the violence which engulfed 20 out of 25 districts in Gujarat.”
The Quint is now preparing to produce a documentary telling the story of Gujarat 2002, with a special focus on how it has scarred the lives of Muslims in the state. For that, the portal said, “We need your support to see this project through. Help us raise ₹ 4,32,000 to meet the production cost of the documentary, and help us tell the stories which matter.”

Godhra? What’s that?
The part where Islamists burnt innocent Hindu devotees to a crisp on a train in Godhra, is, of course, being given a miss by The Quint. The portal will most likely not be visiting any Hindu victims during its production of the propaganda documentary. Instead, it will focus on whitewashing the crimes of Islamists in Gujarat, and how they were victims of violence, rather than initiators of the same.

The Kashmir Files was made with a production cost of ₹ 15 crores. It became a resounding success throughout India by the sheer power of its narration of true events. It did not secularise the genocide of the 90s, nor did it try to humanise Islamists or justify their crimes. It simply showed the reality, which is why it has got so many liberal posteriors on fire.
The Quint is attempting to do the same with its hilarious Gujarat Files. It would be well advised to drop the plan and abandon its beggary. The people of India will resoundingly reject the portal’s attempts to defend the perpetrators of Gujarat’s communal violence and paint them as sorry victims.
