Biography of RJ Balaji

Balaji Patturaj, better known by his stage name RJ Balaji, is an Indian radio host, comedian, director, cricket pundit, and actor located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is most known for hosting the 92.7 Big FM series The Night Show with RJ Balaji, Take it Easy, and the now-defunct Cross Talk section, in which he made prank calls to unsuspecting listeners. In this article we are going to talk about biography, career and notable works and family of RJ Balaji so read the full article here.

RJ Balaji is well known for his work on the television shows Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Dheva and Why This Kolaveri, as well as his roles in the movie Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (2013), Vadacurry (2014), Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015), Pugazh (2016), LKG (2019), and Mookuthi Amman. He’s also been a presenter at a number of inter-school cultural events in Chennai, a cricket commentator, and a supporter of a number of charitable causes, including assisting victims of the 2015 South Indian floods alongside other actors.

Instagram

RJ Balaji is quite popular on social media platform and his Instagram account has been followed by over a million people. His account is verified by Instagram and can be reached at irjbalaji.

Family

Balaji was born on June 20, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and raised there.

He is the youngest of four siblings, with one younger brother and three younger sisters. His father, he claimed, abandoned his family at some time. Balaji revealed in a 2013 interview with The Hindu that he moved 24 times and attended 11 different schools while growing up in Chennai “Mother can’t seem to stay in one location for long. He’d travel from Perambur to Thiruvanmiyur to Mylapore, never stopping in the same area twice.”

Balaji realized his strength was in interaction when he was in college, and that the attention and admiration he gained in his college culture gave him confidence, and he realized he had to be in the media.

RJ Balaji Career Biography

Balaji joined the Amrita School of Communication in Coimbatore for a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism after completing his BSc computer science from Kumararani Meena Muthiah College of Arts in 2006 because he wanted to be like his cousin who worked at NDTV, but when he was asked to write a report on his hostel’s canteen, the 56-word report contained 47 grammatical errors, and he quickly realized that English journalism was not what he was interested.

He saw a newspaper advertisement for a radio station (Radio Mirchi Coimbatore) that was auditioning for radio jockeys at the time and applied, despite the fact that he “had no idea what an RJ was back then.” He claimed that he almost didn’t get selected when he sang a gaana, but that he was finally chosen in November 2006. Since then, he has not finished his journalism course.

RJ Balaji Short Biography

RJ Balaji married when he was 21 years old, and they have two boys. Balaji does not consider himself a social worker or disaster management, despite his active participation in social services: “I am just someone who wants to help others, and I will just do that.”

He has only ever believed in one thing: “Rather than being renowned, it is preferable to be good and perform excellent work. So, whatever I’m doing, whether professionally or for a cause, I aim to give it my all.”

He left the job after four years because he “didn’t want to sound angry all the time” and went to Chennai, where he had relatives and friends.

He joined 92.7 Big FM because they allowed him to build and design his four-hour slot; as a result, the show Take It Easy was born. The evening prime-time show was developed to give people a “relief from the important topics they have to deal with during work hours and unwind with the nonsense,” according to the show’s creators.
