The political rift between Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is nothing new. Given their dissimilar political views on almost every issue, the brother-sister duo has locked horns multiple times. But, any difference of opinions, at this time, can cost Punjab elections for the age-old Congress Party. However, Priyanka and Rahul are supposedly not recognizing this as they are still against each other over their preferences for the post of Chief Minister.
Channi vs Sidhu: Who will be the CM of Punjab?
Ever since Charanjit Singh Channi has been inducted as the Chief Minister of Punjab, the conflict between him and PPCC Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu began. In the beginning, they were at loggerheads with each other as both were batting for their ministers to be inducted. Sidhu, eyeing the CM chair has time and again slammed Channi. Sidhu also objected to Channi’s decision to appoint advocate general APS Deol and state DGP.
Earlier as reported by TFI, Sidhu had resigned from the party because he was rebuffed for being side-lined to retain Channi. However, a month later, he decided to withdraw his resignation.
The top-brass elevated the lesser-known Channi to the position of Chief Minister and left the ambitious, aggressive, and confrontational Sidhu empty-handed. The less tameable and self-serving Sidhu was undercut by the Gandhis once they had their needs met.

Well, the war between both prominent leaders over the CM chair will be an interesting show to watch. Sidhu, the Gandhi puppet, is leaving no stone unturned to appease high brass as he is harbouring dreams in his heart to become the next Chief Minister.
However, it is not so easy.
It’s Sidhu for Rahul and Channi for Priyanka
It seems that the Congress party would be fighting against the Congress party in the 2022 assembly election with Sidhu led faction – which has the support of Rahul Gandhi – on one side and Channi on the other side who has the support of Priyanka Gandhi.

Sidhu was inducted by high brass in the party to oust Amarinder and he has always been the puppet of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Channi, on the contrary, is backed by Priyanka Gandhi.
In the most recent development, Channi is being questioned for briefing Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security. He is being asked why she was kept in the loop regarding the PM’s security.
Sambit Patra, the BJP spokesperson, said, “Punjab Chief Minister himself said that he had briefed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Prime Minister’s security issue. The question arises–why a sitting Chief Minister briefs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on such sensitive issue like PM’s security. This is not the matter of Priyanka Gandhi. What constitutional post does Priyanka hold and who is she to be kept in the loop regarding PM’s security? Public want to know why a sitting Chief Minister briefs a party leader on such a sensitive issue.”
The two factions within the same party will be contesting against each other and this is what will ensure the downfall of the Congress party in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections.
