Shahid Afridi, the master of Flip-flops seems to be now solidifying his support for Draconian sharia law. Following the footsteps of his Prime Minister Taliban khan, he has finally come out in support of the Taliban.
In a shocking statement, Shahid Afridi claimed that the Taliban has come with a ‘positive mind’. He also said that the Taliban is a pro-women and pro-cricket organization.
“No doubt Taliban have come. But, they have come with a very positive mind. They’re allowing ladies to work. They are allowing them to participate in politics. They are supporting cricket…And I believe the Taliban like cricket a lot,” said Afridi, while talking to the media. He went on to add that the Taliban was providing jobs to the ladies, they supported cricket and threw their weight behind upcoming series between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The series has been suspended for the time being.
Shahid Afridi has a history of being a pro-Sharia, anti-Hindu, anti-India, anti-Modi controversy. In May 2020, he publicly wished for a Kashmiri team in the failed Pakistan Super League. ‘I hope that there will be a team from Kashmir in the next edition of the PSL. If there will be a team from Kashmir, I will want to play for that team” said Afridi. He also went on to tweet “It does not take a religious belief to feel the agony of Kashmiris…just a right heart at the right place. Save Kashmir,”. In December 2019, he openly expressed his anti-Hindu mindset when he said that he broke his TV set after seeing his daughter doing Aarti. In an old video, he can be clearly seen abusing Indian PM and the Indian Army.

Taliban has been infamous for its cruelty towards women and minors. For the Taliban, women are nothing more than a baby-producing factory. In its last reign at the helm of affairs in Afghanistan, women were forced to wear Burkha, they were not allowed to work, they were not allowed to get an education after the age of eight, even till age eight, they could only read Quran. They faced flogging and execution if they violated the Taliban’s diktat. Taliban allowed forced marriages under the age of 16. Amnesty International reported that more than 80 per cent of marriages in Afghanistan were forced. Recently, it was reported that the Taliban have asked for women in the age group of 15-45 to be married to their fighters.
Even sportspersons are not secured in Afghanistan ruled by the Taliban. They are persecuted and in so much fear that one footballer tried to flee from the Taliban by latching on to the aeroplane, only to fall from it and die. All these atrocities won’t affect a sick cricketer like Shahid Afridi, who himself does not allow his daughters to play outdoor sports.
