There is the good and elegant loser. Then there is the bad and crass loser. And only then comes Mamata Banerjee – who has been sworn in freshly as chief minister of West Bengal after winning a third decisive mandate. In a new low for the TMC regime in West Bengal – soon after being sworn into power, the party seems to have begun hounding opposition leaders in the state. Since the opposition is the BJP – its leader in the state – Suvendu Adhikari and his brother have now been named in an FIR on frivolous charges of relief material theft.
The case was registered on the complaint of Ratnadip Manna, a member of Kanthi Municipal Administrative Board, at a police station in Kanthi, about 150 km from state capital Kolkata. “On 29 May 2021 at 12:30 pm as per direction of Suvendu Adhikari and his brother and former Municipal Chief Soumendu Adhikari of Kanthi Municipality, Government tripal whose estimated value is around lakhs of rupees, was taken away from municipality office godown by forcefully and illegally opening locks,” read the complaint submitted by Ratnadip Manna at Kanthi police station on June 1.

The complaint also brazenly claimed that the BJP leaders used armed central forces deployed for their security in the alleged theft. Moreover, reports state that Suvendu’s close aide Rakhal Bera has been arrested by Kolkata police for allegedly duping people financially in lieu of job offers.
Reacting to the atmosphere of political hostility which the TMC is nurturing in West Bengal, the saffron party’s Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayawargiya on Sunday said that Mamata Banerjee was out to destroy the Opposition. “It’s a conspiracy against BJP. Bombs were recovered outside BJP office yesterday. Mamata Banerjee has no trust in democracy and wants to destroy Opposition,” Vijayawargiya said.

Ever since Adhikari left the TMC and jumped over to the BJP, Mamata has been up in arms against him and has been trying to drag his name in scams. After Suvendu Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee from Nandigram, he has become the primary enemy of the ruling regime in West Bengal and is being attacked for daring to stand up to Mamata Banerjee and her party. It also seems like the TMC is getting back at the BJP for the saffron party’s offensive against it on the issue of Amphan cyclone relief. Now, the TMC is accusing Adhikari and the BJP of exactly what it has been found doing in the past.
