Film star Akshay Kumar, who played the lead role in the movie OMG: Oh My God to virtue signal all lesser mortals about how to go about their spiritual process, has now taken to urging fans and followers to donate generously for the construction of a grand Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. Taking the lead himself, the actor donated a generous amount to the cause of Ram Mandir and urged others to do the same to an extent subjectively possible for them. Seems noble, doesn’t it? But here’s the catch.
The Oh My God actor has taken to virtue signalling Hindus and others on more occasions than one can recount in the past. While Akshay Kumar may have now taken a complete U-turn and started seeking the support of fans to donate towards Ram Mandir, his old statements are coming back to haunt the actor.
In an old clip of the actor’s interview posted by lyricist and scriptwriter Puneet Sharma, Akshay Kumar is seen talking about people wasting food and money on temples even as innumerable people continue to die of hunger across the country.
और इतने ज्ञान के बाद मंदिर के लिए चंदा और वीडियो। वीडियो जो ज़्यादा ज़रूरी था।

“Why are you wasting so much milk and oil on God? Where is it written that God wants milk and coconuts? On the other hand, you are saying farmers are dying because of hunger. I go to temples and see so much of waste lying around. I believe that the best way to get God’s attention is to do good and help other people,” Akshay Kumar can be seen profoundly remarking in the old interview.
Cut to 2021, the alleged Canadian citizen has taken to Twitter to ask people to come out in large numbers to donate towards the construction of a grand Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
“A temple is being built in Ayodhya for Lord Shri Ram. It’s our turn now. Some of us should be the vaanars, some the gilheris (squirrels), and make contributions as per our capacity to this historical cause. I will be the one to begin. I am sure you will join me too, so that the generations after will be inspired to follow the life lessons taught by Lord Ram,” Akshay said in a video clip posted on Twitter on Sunday.

The video clip has received roughly 1.2 million views as of the moment this report was filed. With over 126,000 likes and 23,300 retweets and counting, Akshay seems to have achieved what he originally set out for – social media traction. What else explains the brazen hypocrisy of the man on the issue of donations, whether in cash or any kind, to temples? Needless to say, the actor did not obviously have an astronomical change of heart and conscience. Therefore, the only plausible explanation for him seeking donations on behalf of the Ram Mandir construction seems to be a gigantic urge to ride on the wave of Hindu resurgence in the country. Sadly for him, scores of people have seen right through such motivations.
It’s okay, people, why are we so critical of our sisters and brothers who want to come BACK to us? It’s a form of Ghar Waapsi, no? Welcome them, don’t castigate anyone for their past utterances, everyone’s allowed mistakes, nobody is God here. What is important is that NOW, he’s back HOME.
