It’s been a series of sad days for NDTV journalist Ravish Kumar, who, on witnessing an NDA victory and BJP surge in Bihar, was no less than heartbroken. To add to his eternal woes, Brajesh Kumar Pandey, his brother who fought the Bihar election on a Congress ticket from Motihari constituency also lost. Then, the BJP yesterday evening celebrating at its national headquarters in Delhi the NDA’s victory in Bihar did not go down well with the ever-pessimistic journalist who was dismayed at how BJP was tossing social distancing norms out of the window.
In all such troubles and scary times though, Ravish Kumar’s analysis of Chirag Paswan and the LJP hit the bull’s eye. Of late, Ravish has grown a newfound fondness for mind-boggling metaphors which he uses to confuse his limited number of viewers. Yesterday, the man sought to compare Chirag Paswan to a patakha (firecracker), who despite not bursting himself, did indeed cause a great fire among the sack of other firecrackers (in the state of Bihar). He then said that Chirag Paswan has proven to be ‘wrong’ for the JD(U), while being absolutely ‘right’ for the BJP.
Continuing the usage of his captivating metaphors, Ravish compared Chirag Paswan to a physiologist, who this time around had found mention along with the ‘coach’ and the ‘captain’, for it is due to his ‘therapy’ that a batsman is able to stand after recovering and consequently hitting a six. Ravish Kumar then went over onto an unending rant of how the LJP was not a part of the NDA in Bihar, but was supporting it in the Centre. He profoundly asked whether the NDA has a Central branch and a Bihar branch. Explaining to his often-unitary viewers how the LJP’s formula was out of his comprehension, Ravish Kumar claimed that he was not being able to tell morning from evening.
Ravish Kumar then shifted focus to Sushil Modi, and said that he was denying LJP the credit it deserved for strengthening the BJP’s position in Bihar’s NDA, instead of blaming him for causing damage to JD(U)’s poll prospects. All in all, Ravish Kumar deserves credit, if not anything else, for putting up a decent show despite going through a tough phase, of witnessing the BJP going from strength to strength in his home state. The journalist must be praised all the more for turning up to gift us with such mesmerising metaphors on television, despite having his brother lose on a Congress ticket in Bihar.
