A cornered and isolated China has finally realised its strength and has unleashed a slew of propaganda videos in its effort to start a psychological war against India. While India is building important border infrastructure with the recently inaugurated Atal Rohtang tunnel, causing much heartburn amongst the Chinese Communist Party, China is relying on its core competencies and hence, is attacking India with propaganda videos with the latest one where the PLA troops are seen eating mooncakes at the border as they tell their citizens not to worry.
In a fresh propaganda video released by the People’s Liberation Army on its Weibo account, the PLA troops can be seen sharing mooncakes at the border with India. The video also shows the PLA troops holding a Chinese flag on a mountainside, as they shout, “I am here to protect the border! To the country, and the people, please do not worry!”
While in reality, the Chinese soldiers are falling like a snowflake at the Eastern LAC with a section of the PLA troops being stretchered off due to the onset of the inhospitable winter, the video claims that a small team of the PLA had completed a patrol of more than 100 km at an elevation of over 5.4 km above sea level. After the patrol, the soldiers are shown eating the traditional pastries – mooncakes.
Last week China celebrated its National Day which saw the PLA going berserk as it released multiple videos of high-altitude training involving the mobilisation of armoured troop carriers, tanks and personnel on its official Weibo account.
While India has shown its muscle by occupying almost all the important heights along the Eastern LAC at the Finger ridges and is also building border infrastructure at breakneck speed, China has failed back to its time-tested strategy of unleashing a psychological war through its propaganda videos which is perhaps the only strength that the PLA possesses.
Recently, China also released a video of its airforce manning the skies, which backfired gloriously as alert defence strategists on Twitter were quick to point out the weaknesses of the Chinese air force especially in the Ladakh region with just one look at the propaganda video.
Earlier in September, Global Times ran an editorial titled, “Talks with India come with war preparedness” where it falsely claimed that China is better prepared for a winter war than India. Editor in Chief of Global Times, Hu Xijin, released a video where he claimed that “the PLA’s frontline soldiers can enjoy hot meals once winter reaches the plateau. Some sympathies with the nearby Indian soldiers who can only eat cold canned food and have to endure the severe cold and potential spread of COVID-19.”

Shortly after the video was released, not only did India occupy all the important heights along the Eastern LAC, but, the Chinese soldiers began falling like snowflakes as the Indian Army observed a section of Chinese soldiers being stretchered off to a medical camp after the soldiers developed high altitude-related problems.
While one country is building border infrastructure to further strengthen its troops, the other is releasing a slew of propaganda videos to fool its troops and people as Xi Jinping continues to live in a parallel world.
