At the time when the liberals are enthusiastically talking about the violent student protestors of Jamia, they have brutally ignored the voice of students of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, who have even been expelled for raising their concerns. As many as 23 students were expelled from the varsity on the charges of “gross misconduct and gross indiscipline” for raising their concerns against two casteist adjunct professors including the noted bigot and casteist Dilip Mandal.

Registrar Deependra Baghel has issued the order, stating, “These students stand expelled and will not be eligible to attend classes in the university or appear in any theory or practical examination till further orders.”

Earlier this week, a section of students had staged a peaceful dharna in front of the vice-chancellor’s cabin (he wasn’t in Bhopal then) to protest against alleged “casteist” remarks by two faculty members. Students had demanded that the two teachers be removed. One of the rusticated students, Rajnish Tiwari, said: “We have just received information of the expulsion. We will discuss our next step, but whatever we do will be peaceful and lawful. We are sad that we have been punished in place of those two teachers. The teachers were dividing students on caste lines, making ‘casteist’ remarks, but they were spared.”

Notably, a group of students had submitted a written complaint on Wednesday with the VC of the university demanding to stop him from the vilification campaign against certain castes or expel him from the university. The application states that Prof Mandal’s tweets against Brahmins are very offensive and are hurting sentiments of the students and creating unrest among them. “Prof Mandal asks surname of students first and the students are treated accordingly,” said the signed complaint. “Moreover, he runs a sustained vilification campaign against Brahmins.

— Shivraj Singh Chouhan (मोदी का परिवार ) (@ChouhanShivraj) December 17, 2019

— Gopal Bhargava (मोदी का परिवार) (@bhargav_gopal) December 18, 2019

The state government led by Chief Minister Kamalnath has been doing step-motherly treatment to the varsity as it has a huge number of nationalist students in it, as this issue rocked the state assembly today; the authorities have revoked the suspension of three students. With former CM and a known liberal- secular Digvijay Singh at the helm of affairs, the government is dividing the state on casteist lines only to garner votes. Appointment of Dilip Mandal in this varsity, which is known for its nationalist credentials, is an example of this scheme of Congress, Mandal is a known casteist, and he has been very vocal in abusing the Hindus. Form mocking Hindu beliefs to denigrate ‘Manusmriti’, Mandal along with his mentors in the congress, have been trying various tricks to create a Dalit- Upper caste riot in state in order to polarise the votes of backward in the state, which has been a supporter of the BJP. Congress with these petty tricks is trying to seclude the influence of the upper caste votes in the state as they have traditionally supported the BJP however it will end up losing both backward as well as the upper castes with such casteist campaigns.
