Calls for ‘Hinduon se Azadi’, buses set ablaze: Jamia and AAP MLA under scanner as Delhi witnessed ugly scenes

Calls for ‘Hinduon se Azadi’, buses set ablaze: Jamia and AAP MLA under scanner as Delhi witnessed ugly scenes

Delhi witnessed widespread violence on Sunday even as the anti-CAA protesters turned utterly communal and violent. The Jamia Milia Islamia University had already emerged as the epicentre of the anti-CAA protests and the violence along with it. The protests also took a patently communal colour as Allahu Akbar chants echoed at the University. The situation only deteriorated as the violent protesters went berserk resorting to vandalism and arson in the National Capital.

This has followed a nation wide rumouring and fear mongering that Indian Muslims will be disenfranchised and it was also being argued that India has barred Muslims from acquiring citizenship by naturalisation. Despite the government repeatedly making it clear that the Indian Muslims do not stand to lose in any manner, vested interests have been repeatedly trying to instill a sense of fear in the minds of Indian Muslims by telling them that the nation is going to become a “Hindu rashtra”.

Violence erupted in parts of South Delhi as the violent protesters went on a rampage even as 1,000 protesters clashed with the police setting at least six buses and over 50 vehicles on fire in Mathura Road, New Friends Colony, Jamia Nagar and Sarai Julena. Earlier, there were reports of 12 cops getting injured and two of them getting admitted to the ICU of a Delhi hospital after University students turned hooligans and attacked the policemen.

In what clearly corroborates the fact of utter communalisation of protests, the protesting Jamia students have been heard allegedly chanting  “Hinduon Se Azadi”- slogans similar to the ones that were raised during the 1946 Direct Action Day which led to the historical blunder of partition of India.

There are also reports of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan being spotted at the areas where the violent protests took place. Police sources have also told ANI that they are investigating elements that caused violence in the National Capital. Three DTC buses were set ablaze during the violent protests near Bharat Nagar and one fire tender had to be rushed to the spot for dousing the fire. Two firemen also got injured in the incident. Delhi BJP has come out attacking the AAP over the shameful, violent incident. The Delhi unit chief of the party, Manoj Tiwari said, “AAP MLA is provoking people at the behest of Arvind Kejriwal. The Muslim of India is with India and is not going to be influenced by traitors like you. Stop provoking people. The people of Delhi will teach AAP traitors a lesson. The sin of AAP is being exposed.”

What is even more shocking is the fact that the buses were set ablzae with passengers in it. The violent mobs therefore were not targeting the public property and the buses, rather they were targeting the lives of the innocent passengers travelling in the bus.

Shocking that buses were put on fire by protestors in Jamia Nagar with passengers in it… And people expect Delhi police to be mute spectators… #AAPBurningDelhi pic.twitter.com/s48ROgZtgJ

— Amit Malviya (मोदी का परिवार) (@amitmalviya) December 15, 2019

The involvement of AAP MLA in the violent protests has opened up a new angle into the violence that has gripped the National Capital. The AAP which found itself in a tight spot tried to spread fake news in order to avoid criticism. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister went to the extent of hinting that the buses were set afire under police watch. He said, “BJP is making people set fire to property because they are scared of losing elections… In this video, you can see that they are setting fire under the protection of police.” His lies have however been busted by the Delhi Police. Delhi Police Additional PRO Anil Mittal said, “personnel were dousing flames and putting water on the bus”.

Another AAP leader tried to mislead the people of Delhi and suggested that the Delhi Police had set the buses on fire. However, her grossly misleading version has also been busted on Twitter with video of a Delhi Police personnel trying to douse the fire going viral.

Pls look at this footage carefully – police is setting fire to buses! Is this BJP’s attempt to divert attention when they know they are losing upcoming elections in Delhi? #BJPburningDelhi https://t.co/d0QoLK2p5J

— Atishi (@AtishiAAP) December 15, 2019

https://twitter.com/rajshekharTOI/status/1206253063503151105

The sheer communal and anti-national propaganda at the Jamia Milia University protests and the presence of an AAP MLA suggests that the violence is not spontaneous, rather it is a part of a sinsister conspiracy involving political elements. The political angle behind the violence gets further corroborated from how the entire AAP leadership came out spreading fake news about the bus fire. AAP and Jamia students are now clearly under the scanner, notwithstanding desperate attempts to shift the blame on to the Delhi Police and the BJP.
