Devdutt Pattanaik, a colossal marketing maniac who knows very little about Indian culture, ancient history and way of life is yet again doing the rounds on everybody’s twitter feeds. The recent shreds of evidence unearthed at Rakhigarhi have not only yet again validated that there was no ‘Aryan Invasion’ of India but has further found not a single trace of the Central Asian ‘Aryan’ genomic sequence in skeletons that were found after the excavation. This revelation, on very expected lines, called for the Left-liberals to an outrage like never before.
For those who astutely and religiously believe in the Romila Thapar school-of-thought, this was an inexplicable moment of defeat. The Aryan Invasion Theory was furthered by the colonialists, to make Indians believe that they themselves are aliens to this land and that the Dravidians were the original inhabitants of Bharat. This bogus theory was then advanced by left-leaning ‘historians’ who plagued our history books with all sorts of crazy fantasies of the Aryan Invasion.
Among those disappointed, was Mr Devdutt Pattanaik.

Devdutt has made a substantial audience for himself among the children and adolescents because adults simply refuse to oblige to his nonsensical theories about Indian history and culture. Pattanaik, clearly a leftist, more so a socialist, tries to fit all Indian historical events and cultural practices along the lines of the Left worldview. His interpretations of the Ramayana, Mahabharata, among others have found no buyers among those who have genuine knowledge of the Indian culture. As a result, Pattanaik, being the marketing genius he is, started writing books for children. Of course, for those who are not aware of the subject at-hand, Devdutt has the incredible ability to make people subscribe and believe his interpretations. Through his various children-specific book series, Devdutt leaves no stone unturned to ensure that the reader is indoctrinated with bogus ideas about Indian culture and more so, grows an affinity towards Leftism.
Not only is Devdutt Pattnaik a flawed Indologist with questionable credentials and perhaps ulterior motives, but also, he is a gutter-level troll, as proved by his recent tweet in which he, in reply to a genuine question, told the person concerned that he would ‘Check with your Mother’.

This is not the kind of language used by this ‘mythologist’ once in a blue moon. In fact, such abusive language can be seen being hurled upon anybody who disagrees with Devdutt. Surely, anybody who has the slightest knowledge of Indian ethos would not malign somebody’s mother simply because the person refused to comply with the former’s ideology, or for simply asking a question.
Those leftists and the subsequent sub-group of liberals are allergic to dissent of any kind is not an unknown feature. Devdutt is a known Brahmin hater. However, he is also an anti-feminist. What else should we call an individual who does not subscribe to the view that women can and should make their own choices? In 2017, Pattanaik had slammed Rani Padmini for self-immolation. According to him, this act of the Rani immolating herself to not be a victim of Allaudin Khilji’s monstrosity was foolish and the Rani should have continued to ‘survive and thrive’. According to him, the Rani’s decision to not be a sex slave for Khilji, and instead give up her life was indicative of the inherent ‘misogyny and patriarchy’ prevalent.
It is an irony of the highest order that all it takes for a supposed ‘pluralist’ to turn into a low-life abusive troll is a question. Ours has always been an inquisitive civilization, where ‘tark-vitark’, now known as debating, formed the crux of public and intellectual discourse. Of course, to expect people like Devdutt Pattanaik to conform to such ideas would be childish on our part. How can someone, with no knowledge of Bharat and Bhartiyata, ever acknowledge and practise Indian ethos and values in real life? Devdutt Pattanaik has been exposed many a time by the Twitter handle ‘True Indology’. All such related tweets are now unavailable online, as Twitter unceremoniously deleted True Indology’s first account.
The Epic Channel, which runs shows on Indian ancient history, they otherwise dub as myth, is an employer of Devdutt Pattanaik, for reasons best known to them. Why any organisation would employ such nasty individuals who use explicit language at the drop of a hat is something I have not got my head around. However, the cake is actually in the fact that The Epic Channel is owned by Anand Mahindra! An otherwise nationalistic, development-oriented and sane voice among Indian industrialists is sadly the employer of a person of Devdutt’s kind. Anand Mahindra became the sole owner of the Epic Channel after Mukesh Ambani sold off his stakes to Mahindra in 2016. The question we need to ask Anand Mahindra is the following:
Anand Mahindra, do you pretend to be a sane and patriotic industrialist, doing so only for capital gain? If not, why would you associate with a person who has a known history of bad-mouthing anyone and everyone who disagrees with his view? Do you not find it hypocritical to portray yourself to be pro-India, while you employ an individual who packages Indian culture according to the European worldview? Will you take action against Pattanaik for the derogatory tone which he continuously uses against others?
Apart from The Epic Channel, Devdutt Pattanaik also works for Radio Mirchi, the top FM Radio platform in India. It is deeply disappointing to note that such media platforms are providing a pedestal to Devdutt to preach from. Why should Radio Mirchi continue to associate themselves with Devdutt Pattanaik, even though it is now proven that he is nothing but an abusive individual who goes on ranting about issues he has very little, if at all any knowledge about. The least, ‘The Epic Channel’ and Radio Mirchi can do is disassociate themselves from this troll.
Devdutt Pattanaik has been losing his once-held appeal among the middle-class of India. Social media empowers individuals to find the truth or a portion of it themselves. Through social media, and the efforts of actual Indologists, Devdutt’s hollow knowledge has been exposed. This has frustrated the man, who now looks to vent out his frustrations at random people on Twitter. He may also be doing so to get out of the attention-deprived world he has been pushed into. The thing we know about leftists is this, one can never know how low they can stoop.
