After 12 days of the cowardly attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama, the Indian Air Force took fitting revenge for the same. According to confirmed reports by ANI, a squadron of 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets penetrated the Pakistani territory and destroyed the terror launchpads of terrorist organisations like Jaish-e-Mohammed [the chief perpetrator of Pulwama attacks], Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba.
The IAF has destroyed the terror camps and launchpads that were situated in Balakot, Chakoti & Muzaffarabad, apart from reducing the control rooms of Jaish-e-Mohammed, also situated in Balakot, to smithereens. The same was confirmed by Shri Vijay Gokhale, Foreign Secretary for India.
However, the IAF airstrike brought unexpected chaos in Pakistan. Not only are the Pakistanis shocked by the response, but they’re also aghast by the damage caused by the effective retaliation conducted by the IAF squadron. Needless to say, the incumbent PM Imran Khan was brutally criticized by the opposition leaders during the joint parliamentary session called at Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
The opposition leaders went hammer and tongs after Imran Khan, shouting ‘shame shame’ during the proceedings of the joint parliamentary session held at the National Assembly. As per unconfirmed reports, one of the parliamentarians had this to say, “Our government has claimed to have a word with External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj, the guest of honor at the OIC conference in Tehran. Our representative [referring to the visiting delegate, Ramesh Bankwani] had claimed that we’d receive good news within 2-3 days from the other side. Here is the good news.”
At this moment, Pakistan Defence Minister Khwaja Asif appealed to all the parties to unite in this time of distress. To quote his address, “Our country, our sovereignty, our integrity are being threatened. It is the need of the hour that we show solidarity with the Army. I urge the fellow members to show united front, he said India should be sent a message that all of them are one in the matter of Kashmir.”
However, his press conference exposed the reality of Pakistan’s so-called military power. To quote his address to the media, “When the attack took place in the morning, they (IAF) came 4-5 km inside (LoC) and they dropped the bombs. Our air force was ready but because it was dark, it was night, the loss could not be assumed. So, they waited for that (to find the quantum of IAF air strike). Now we have received clear directions that if something like this happens in the future, we will respond to it.”
Yes, let that sink in. The Pakistani air force was unable to respond to the Indian attacks, because they couldn’t see in the dark. Even if Pakistanis are not that dumb to digest this, this statement was made in an extremely bad taste. These attacks have also undermined the position of Pakistani PM Imran Khan by leaps and bounds, exposing him as a ‘leader’ who hardly practices what he preaches.
