“Our aim is to make nation free of corrupt Congress. Will do whatever is best to ensure it. History shows we were unselfish in alliance.”
“Selfishness greed, lead AP Congress leaders fall on feet of Sonia Gandhi. History from 1983 will repeat. TDP will wipe out Congress”.
These were the statements made by veteran leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu. The statements were made four years ago when he vehemently opposed the Congress.
Naidu met Congress Supremo Rahul Gandhi and expressed his wish to create an alliance in order to dismantle the Bhartiya Janta Party in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Let’s not be intrigued by this development since it’s something, Naidu has on and off being doing and as someone rightly said the letter ‘C’ in Chandrababu Naidu stands for ‘Chameleon’.
“We have to save the nation, our democracy. We discussed with Rahulji. We agree in principle. It is a democratic compulsion. We want to organise everybody, have a common platform,” Mr Naidu said while giving a joint-press statement with Rahul Gandhi.
What is this democratic compulsion or is it actually an alliance to save the nation or a political stunt to save own declining career in Southern Politics? and Why do we say this?
We say this because Mr. Chandrababu Naidu just a month ago was ready to spearhead a non-BJP & a non-Congress alternative in a quest to create a formidable opposition.
But as he saw that the turnout of stakeholders didn’t turn out to be as expected, he then even after having a ‘past’ with Congress had to knock their doors to what he termed as “democratic compulsion”, since out of nowhere he felt that BJP led NDA has attacked premier institutions of this country.
We are going to work together with the opposition to protect the nation from BJP’s undemocratic rule. Putting the past behind us, we are going to unite with a common goal of defeating those who have attacked the premier institutions of this country.

Telgu Desam Party or TDP was formed by NT Rama Rao (Naidu’s father in law) on the line of one-point agenda of dethroning the Congress in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. And Rao who is considered to be a stalwart in South Politics did achieve this feat and thus 1983 for the first time, a non-Congress government was formed in the state.
Interestingly, on September 6th, K Chandrashekar Rao proposed to dissolve the Telangana Assembly as he felt advancing the polls which would have been scheduled for April 2019, may give him an advantage and it would be a cake-walk for the party.
TDP & Congress both sensing opportunity have planned to contest election together and as in Karnataka where the Congress handed over the Chief Ministerial seat to JD(S) even after having just 38 seats as compared to Congress’ 80, TDP for sure expects the same in Telangana’s case.
Naidu’s desperation can also be seen in the fact that too many superstars from film industry have shown their interest in joining hands with BJP be it Rajnikant or Mohanlal.
In addition to this, the resurgence of Hindu unity is something that has now started to threaten not only Chandrababu Naidu but every other regional party in South as well, which have for years now, disregarded Hindu sentiments.
It will be interesting to see how the ‘old foes’ turn out to be in the current friendship.
