Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday while addressing a gathering in Kerala said that if the BJP comes back in 2019 then India will become ‘Hindu-Pakistan’. The term ‘Hindu-Pakistan’ is oxymoron but it still didn’t stopped Mr. Tharoor from saying it and branding the majority community as evil.
Shashi Tharoor said, “So far, what they have been preventing them is three things – two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha, two-thirds in the Rajya Sabha and half of the states. As you know, they have two-thirds in Lok Sabha and they have more than half the states. They have 20 states and coalitions in two others. The only thing they don’t have is a majority in the Rajya Sabha but because they have so many state governments and because state assemblies elect the Rajya Sabha, you can be sure in 4-5 years, they will have a majority in Rajya Sabha as well.” He further added, “So the great danger then is that if they are able to win a repeat of their current strength in the Lok Sabha, then frankly our democratic constitution as we understand will not survive because they will have all the three elements they need to tear up the Constitution of India and write a new one. That will be a new one which will enshrine the principle of Hindu Rashtra, will remove equality for minorities, that will create a Hindu Pakistan. That’s not what Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel and the great heroes of our freedom struggle fought for.”
The so-called intellectual who is currently facing trial in his wife’s murder case also ranted against the great leaders of India like Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Veer Savarkar. He said, “What is the bigger danger that our democracy is facing today is prospect that they will follow through on this convictions not only by honouring the individuals they claim to admire. They have put up a portrait of Savarkar in Parliament facing that of Gandhi. But that they will actually act on the beliefs of their own heroes and they will come back to us with a new constitution.”
Shashi Tharoor has crossed all the limits of minority appeasement and fear mongering. The BJP has no reason to undermine the constitution. Infact, Congress is the one who undermined the constitution and India’s democracy. They have done it on several occasions, the best example of this is the imposition of the emergency in 1975. It seems the Congress party is already preparing to convert India into an Islamic republic by opposing Triple Talaq Bill, supporting female genital mutilation and the list goes on.
Hindus are by nature peaceful and have no aspiration to convert India into Pakistan. In fact, under the 60 years of the Congress party rule many areas in the country got converted into mini-Pakistan where Hindus have suffered religious persecution. But self-declared intellectuals like Shashi Tharoor never talks about these issues, probably due to their secular reasons. In states such as West-Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Kerala, there are some areas where the Hindus have become a minority community now. In these areas the Hindus suffer religious persecution but our ‘secular’ leaders maintain stoic silence on such issues.
The claims of Shashi Tharoor are hollow at all the levels. There is not even a single proof of any attempt made by the BJP to undermine the constitution, since it has come to power. On the other hand, the Congress party is known for organizing mindless protests, staged walkouts and they also skipped the GST announcements. The Congress party has failed to play the role of a responsible opposition in the Parliament. In fact, the Congress party has failed on all the fronts except corruption and minority appeasement and they are paying the price of it by tasting the defeat in almost every state elections held after 2014 and most probably they would suffer similar fate in 2019 General Elections as well.
