Uma Bharti is the latest victim of fake news and Hindu-hating media. On 1st May 2018, Uma Bharti made a statement wherein she rubbished the idea that Dalits need any kind of ‘purification.’ She said that people like her (saffron-clad sanyasins) were nobody to purify them and that in fact, by feeding the Dalits, people like her will be purified. Uma Bharti also added, “Hum Bhagwan Ram nahi hain ki Daliton ke saath bhojan karenge toh ve pavitra ho jayenge. Jab Dalit hamare ghar aakar saath baithkar bhojan karenge tab hum pavitra ho payenge.Dalit ko jab main apne ghar mein apne haathon se khaana parosungi tab mera ghar dhanya ho jayega.” (We are not Lord Ram who can purify Dalits just by dining with them. When Dalits will come to our home and eat with us only then we will be purified. When I get to serve a Dalit with my own hands only then my home shall be purified).

In a country like India where caste discrimination is rampant, this comes as a very forward viewpoint because it not only rubbishes the caste paradigm but even admits that mistakes have been committed and that it is the oppressors who require purification and not the oppressed ones.

But the so-called fourth pillar of Indian Democracy, the media, which behaves like a dictator with no accountability, was quick to twist her statement to suit their agenda. They only reported the first part of her statement and gave a misleading headline where she supposedly said that people like her are nobody to purify the Dalits implying that Dalits needed purification. This is a deliberate, systematic attempt by media to shape and manipulate the cognition of the readers. This is also one of the reasons why media is losing its credibility rapidly. Now, this news has spread like a wild fire. The casteist and Anti-India forces have already latched on to this fake news to further their agenda.

Entire perfume of Arabia is not enough to hide the foul smell of BJP. This mindset never going to vanish from them.

This shows the level of hatred and bias of our media towards the Hindu leaders and saints like Uma Bharti that the media will report the exact opposite of whatever they say. The media seems to be working on to establish TINA (There is no alternative) fallacy as a truth and for that they are leaving no stone unturned.  In a country like India which is already divided on caste lines, media is only deepening those divides and trying to create a thorough societal division exploiting various fault-lines in Indian society. “There are laws to protect the freedom of the press’ speech, but none that are worth anything to protect the people from the press” said Mark Twain.  The media opposed I&B Ministry’s proposal to ban fake news precisely because they are the ones spreading fake news. At a time when country like France and Malaysia have come up with laws against fake news, in India journalists are opposing enactment of any such laws. They want complete independence to use their toxic voices to spread venom, hatred and secessionism in the society. They think they are speaking truth to the power but in reality they are spreading lies to gain power, to bring a party in power which is favorable to them and provides them political patronage. As the saying goes, “you cannot make omelette without breaking few eggs.” Our Indian Media is doing exactly that.

Earlier this month on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanthi, PM Naredra Modi launched “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan”. This campaign is launched to promote social harmony, spread awareness about pro-poor initiatives of government, and reach out to poor households to enroll them in government initiatives and to obtain their feedback on various welfare programs. Under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, BJP has asked its MPs to spend at least one night in villages where population of SC/STs is over 50%. BJP asked its minister to make sure everyone in such villages is covered under government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Saubhagya, Ujala scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Mission Indradhanush. This goes on to show the commitment of BJP government towards upliftment of Dalit community from the clutches of poverty and make sure that they have a brighter future ahead.
