Manish’s side of the IIT Madras Beef story is out, and it totally refutes Media’s version

Since the time the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules, 2017 have been brought into force, there have been animated reactions coming out from all quarters of pseudo-secular strongholds. The usual liberal brigade swimming in their ignorance turned gatekeepers for the peaceful minority stating that everyone had a right to eat what they want irrespective of their religious belief and that the latest move by the government is unacceptable, since it hampered with the dietary requirements of many. With opinions being voiced right after the notification being brought into force, it reaffirmed their position of being gullible sympathisers for the principles of secularism, falling prey to propaganda’s of the opposition parties and the lutyens media.

The opposition parties to their credit took the maximum advantage of the lack of awareness amongst the masses and added fuel to fire by either making provocative press conferences or by conducting slaughter fests, seeking to incite more communal flare and distain for the present Central Government.

Not lagging behind were the country’s elite institutions, and this time around it was IIT Madras. It is ironical, that protests throughout these last 3 years have erupted in universities which do not have a BJP government be it Delhi – Jahawarlal Nehru University, Kolkata – Jadhavpur University, Kerala– where there is a Communist government or IIT Madras which has been in a state of political turmoil ever since Madam Jayalalithaa’s demise.

The incident of IIT Madras has been one of great interest and that is only because of the way it was reported by the mainstream media. Sometime on 30th May, 2017, Tuesday, news reports started flooding the internet about how a PHD Scholar, Mr. R. Sooraj was allegedly thrashed by a group of “right wing” students for participating in a beef festival. Certain follow up reports by the same news agencies also highlighted that the students and the alumni of IIT Madras had requested the dean of ITT Madras to expel the students who had allegedly thrashed the PHD Scholar.

What sets this incident apart is the alacrity with which the left leaning media highlighted the incident in its full glory creating sympathy for R. Sooraj, building a narrative favouring the lyutens ideology but completely ignored the other side of the incident, thereby depriving the citizens of both the versions of the incident and in turn prohibiting them from viewing the incident holistically.

The media organisations highlighted the incident; ensured R. Sooraj’s picture on a wheelchair went viral and as soon as the other side of the narrative started appearing, abandoned the coverage mid-way to focus their strengths over some other incident to simmer anti-government feelings.

Having understood that the present government cannot be criticised/cornered  or condemned on charges of corruption or gross irregularities like its predecessors or for a dwindling economy, the opposition parties and the media ganged up to build a narrative of intolerance and forceful imposition of Hindu values on the citizens of India. While a few educated liberals have fallen victim to this propaganda, most of the Indians have seen through this concocted web of lies spun by the lutyens media.

The said news coverage of R. Sooraj abruptly stopped after pictures of Manish Kumar Singh (the other student injured in this whole episode) on a hospital bed with an operated fractured hand were released on Social Media. The actions that actually led to the two students fighting will shock any liberal sympathising with Sooraj and would probably make them realise that they have been manipulated by the mainstream media organisations all along.

Soon after the notification from the government on regulation of Livestock market, Sooraj, a member of the Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC) and organising member of the beef festival held at IIT Madras, invited people from outside to participate in the beef festivities and to protest against the government. For the purposes of clarity and better understanding, it is pertinent to note that APSC is the same organisation whose sister organisation Ambedkar student’s association had raised a protest against the execution of Yakub Memon.

(Link )

This is the same organisation which was banned by the IIT authorities in 2015 for their indulgence in wanting to polarize the SC and ST’s. The APSC, initially founded by students of IIT Madras focusing on the condition of Dalits and against the apparent tyranny caused by Brahmins and Hindus in India over centuries has transgressed into all sorts of Anti-India activities and propagandas. Their disdain for the Hindu civilization and the Hindus of 21st century is evident from their posts on Facebook, which have been attached herewith for your kind reference. Not only are they anti – Hindu, they are also against the Indian army and army veterans like Gen G.D Bakshi.

The Incident:

Sooraj who had organised the beef festival with his friends had never thought that they would be met with such resistance from fellow students and especially Manish, who seemed to stand his ground come what may.

And while Sooraj’s side of the story had been narrated by all the left leaning media organisations to great detail, No one bothered to know Manish’s side of the story. It is believed that after the beef festival, Sooraj with his APSC friends entered into a verbal spat with Manish and that altercation soon turned physical with both sides aiming for each other’s throats.

As per this newsminute report this is what Manish said:

“It was just an argument that got heated.”

“I just went to him, I just asked him that sir, that day you were saying you were eating ‘gau mata meat’, and here you’re eating Jain food. He said, “It is my choice what I want to eat. I can eat ‘gau mata meat’, I can eat you also.” That led to an argument, and my hand got twisted,” Manish said.

While Sooraj had alleged that Manish had attacked him, and that seven of his (Manish’s) friends stopped others from intervening, the ocean engineering student has denied the claims.

“You go to the mess and ask them – these seven other people, who they are,” Manish said. “Half of the people in the mess – most of the people in the mess were supporting him… The fight didn’t even occur for 30 seconds. It started and everyone came and separated us,” he claimed.

The words by Sooraj seemed to have ticked a nerve and what ensued thereafter is for everyone to see. And while both the students were injured and required medical help, only Sooraj’s case was highlighted.

What is saddening is the disparity in which both sides of the story were highlighted. Sooraj, who considering his association with APSC, his behaviour in the past and the alleged conduct of inciting violence and hatred in the campus was portrayed as a hero while Manish, who defended and retaliated to Sooraj’s spiteful incites, was painted across as the hooligan and a  hindutva driven aggressor. Prominent politician M.K Stalin met Sooraj to sympathise with his cause, but completely disregarded Manish who was admitted with a fractured hand.

Conclusion:

The incident of Sooraj being thrashed at the same time should serve the left liberals as a learning lesson that the silent majority holds the potent to act effectively whenever called upon to do so. The seculars in their attempt to make secularism as a relevant ideology are losing the plot. Their constant push to put Hinduism is blowing up in their own face and the belief of liberal hindus is turning into a strong one. It is nothing but their cause to lose.

And rather than it gaining sympathy from India/Indians, peaceful’s from Pakistan are writing posts for Sooraj, in solidarity to his cause. This certainly clears the air on how and from where these groups get support.

In conclusion, all we seek to highlight is that the universities are not forums to promote a particular form of political ideology and they are definitely not the right forums to breed anti-nationalism/anti-government sentiments by political organisations. Students in such prestigious universities should look through this charade of socialist causes and concentrate on their studies. Not every aspiring engineer has the opportunity to study in IIT’s, but for those who have been blessed with it should make the most of it by striving to excel in academics rather than indulging in such rhetoric nonsense.

The country (and Delhi) in specific is suffering after one of the IIT graduates became a part time Chief Minister of Delhi and a full time movie critic.
