A chilling crime has rocked Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district where a man who recently came back from Dubai, was found dead inside a trolley bag. His wife who is said to be in a relationship with his nephew, allegedly killed him and stuffed him in the trolley bag.
The body of 37-year-old Naushad, a resident of Bhatauli village in the Mayil area, was discovered in a harvested wheat field near Pakdi Patkhauli village under Tarkulwa police station. A farmer spotted the abandoned bag and alerted authorities. Upon opening it, police found Naushad’s body along with his passport, confirming his identity.
Investigators believe that the Dubai returnee Naushad was killed at home, his body stuffed into the same trolley bag he had brought from Dubai, and then transported over 60 km by car to the field. A search of his residence revealed bloodstains on another bag, raising further suspicion.
During the interrogation, Naushad’s wife confessed to the murder, stating that she conspired with her nephew—her lover—and his friend to kill her husband. Police said the accused initially misled Naushad’s father by claiming he had gone to visit relatives. While the wife has been detained, the nephew and his friend are currently absconding.
“We solved the case within six hours of finding the body,” a senior police official said. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage along the suspected route taken to dump the body.
In Bareilly as well, a 35-year-old sanitation worker, Keharpal, was allegedly killed by his wife and her lover. Keharpal was found dead in his rented home in Fateganj Paschimi. The wife allegedly confessed to adding rat poison to Keharpal’s tea. A postmortem confirmed that Keharpal had died by suffocation. The police arrested both suspects.
