Key Details in Former Karnataka DGP murder case: Retired Karnataka DGP Om Prakash was found brutally murdered at his upscale HSR Layout home on Sunday evening. The 68-year-old former top cop was discovered in a pool of blood, with multiple stab wounds, after a violent altercation with his wife, Pallavi.
Prime Accused Pallavi Claimed Domestic Abuse
Pallavi, 64, who was arrested shortly after the incident, claimed she was a victim of domestic violence. During an inquest at the crime scene, she told reporters that years of abuse pushed her to the edge. Police reports suggest she attacked Om Prakash after throwing chilli powder into his face during a heated argument.
Son Alleges Murder Plot, Daughter Under Evaluation
Their son Kartikesh filed a formal complaint, alleging his mother had been threatening his father’s life in the days leading up to the murder. He also accused his sister Kriti of persuading their father to return home against his wishes. Kriti has since been admitted to NIMHANS for psychiatric evaluation.
Schizophrenia and Online Searches Add to Suspicion
Investigators discovered Pallavi had been suffering from schizophrenia and had conducted online searches related to fatal neck injuries days before the crime. She had also sent troubling messages in WhatsApp groups, claiming she was being poisoned and watched.

CCB Takes Over High-Profile Case
Given the seriousness of and public interest in the case, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda has transferred the case to the Central Crime Branch (CCB). Pallavi is now currently in judicial custody for 14 days while the investigation continues.
