A disturbing security alert has gripped Uttar Pradesh after a Khalistani terror outfit allegedly threatened bomb attacks on prominent Hindu religious sites in Ayodhya, Mathura and Varanasi ahead of Diwali. The threatening emails, reportedly issued in the name of the Khalistan National Army, warned of explosions between November 8 and November 27, 2026. The messages have prompted security agencies to intensify surveillance and launch precautionary operations across the three religious cities, raising serious concerns about the safety of devotees, students and ordinary citizens during the festive season.

According to reports, one of the threatening emails was received by Parama Academy, an ICSE-affiliated school in Ayodhya. The school administration promptly informed the local police about the communication. Similar messages were reportedly sent to Radiant College and Navdeep College in Ambedkar Nagar. The threatening communication allegedly warned of attacks on educational institutions, religious establishments and other public locations, creating widespread concern among parents and school authorities.

The email reportedly invoked the name of the Khalistani terror outfit calling itself the Khalistan National Army. Three individuals were named in the communication: engineer Gurunakh Singh, Raunak Shahwala and Dr Gurunirvar Singh Khanrajada. Their alleged association with the organisation and their involvement in sending the threats have not yet been independently established. Investigating agencies are examining the authenticity of the message and attempting to identify its actual sender.

The selection of Ayodhya, Mathura and Varanasi as alleged targets makes the threat particularly disturbing. Ayodhya is home to the magnificent Ram Mandir, Mathura houses the revered Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi complex, and Varanasi is one of Hinduism’s most important pilgrimage centres, associated with the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Millions of devotees visit these locations every year, with religious festivals attracting particularly large gatherings.

Following the threats, security arrangements have been strengthened around sensitive religious establishments. Police personnel, dog squads, bomb disposal teams, intelligence officials and specialised commandos have been deployed to conduct precautionary searches. Authorities are also monitoring crowded locations, including railway stations, bus terminals, shopping centres and hotels.

In Mathura, police have intensified security around Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi. Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar confirmed that additional surveillance and checking operations were underway across sensitive locations. Cybercrime personnel and technical teams are working to establish the authenticity of the threatening email and trace its source. The authorities have also emphasised that appropriate legal action will follow the investigation.

The threat has reportedly extended beyond religious sites. According to media reports, the threatening communication also mentioned Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, warning of attacks during his concerts. Educational institutions and government establishments have also figured in the reported threats. Separate communications received by municipal authorities in Mathura and Varanasi have further heightened security concerns.

The Khalistani terror outfit threat has consequently triggered a wider security response involving local police, intelligence agencies and specialised investigation teams. The Anti-Terrorism Squad has also initiated an investigation following the complaint from Ayodhya. Officials are examining digital evidence and attempting to establish whether the messages originated from individuals operating within India or elsewhere.

The timing of the threats is especially concerning because Diwali celebrations involve large public gatherings, temple visits and cultural events. Any attempt to create panic during this period could disrupt celebrations and endanger innocent lives. Authorities must therefore ensure that security arrangements remain comprehensive without allowing threatening communications to create unnecessary public panic.

The Khalistani terror outfit incident also highlights the importance of monitoring extremist propaganda and threats directed at India’s religious institutions. Organisations invoking separatist ideologies must not be allowed to intimidate civilians or threaten places of worship. At the same time, investigators must establish the credibility of the allegations through verifiable evidence rather than assumptions.

For devotees preparing to celebrate Diwali, the Khalistani terror outfit threat has understandably raised concerns about security at some of the country’s most sacred destinations. The responsibility now rests with the authorities to protect religious establishments, educational institutions and public spaces while bringing those responsible for the threatening communications to justice.

The investigation into the Khalistani terror outfit emails remains ongoing. Whether the threats represent an actual operational conspiracy or an attempt to spread fear through intimidation, the episode underlines the need for vigilance, effective intelligence coordination and uncompromising action against those who threaten public safety.
