Israeli Army Takes Control of Gaza Phones, Is Netanyahu’s Defiant UNGA Speech the End Game for Hamas?

In one of the most daring moves on the world stage, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu turned his address at the United Nations General Assembly into a direct message to Hamas and the people of Gaza. On September 26, 2025, despite widespread protests, walkouts by over 100 diplomats, and an International Criminal Court arrest warrant hanging over him, Netanyahu stood tall and unyielding. His message was clear: Israel will not bow to international pressure, will not tolerate terrorism, and will not allow the creation of a Palestinian state that rewards bloodshed. In an unprecedented show of technological reach, Netanyahu’s speech was live-streamed on active mobile phones inside Gaza, amplified by military loudspeakers at the Israel-Gaza border, ensuring that every Hamas operative and hostage-taker heard his ultimatum: lay down your arms, release the hostages, or face elimination.

This bold defiance not only symbolized Netanyahu’s determination to safeguard Israel’s existence but also sent a strong reminder that Israel’s national security cannot be compromised for diplomatic appeasement. The Israeli leader stood against international boycotts and Western recognition of Palestine, declaring that Israel will finish the job against Hamas no matter the cost.

Speaking Directly to Gaza: A Historic First

Never before had the UN platform been used to directly communicate with citizens and terrorists inside Gaza. Netanyahu announced that thanks to Israeli intelligence and the IDF, his speech was being broadcast in real time into Gaza, both on mobile phones and through loudspeakers set up at the border.

“To the remaining Hamas leaders and to the jailers of our hostages, I say: lay down your arms. Let my people go. Free the hostages every single one of them and you will live. If you don’t, Israel will hunt you down,” Netanyahu declared, his words resonating across the Strip.

Wearing a pin with a QR code linked to hostage awareness, Netanyahu reminded families in Israel and abroad: “We have not forgotten you not even for a second.” This symbolic gesture underscored Israel’s unwavering commitment to bringing back its kidnapped citizens, even as international bodies attempted to brand Israel the aggressor.

For Netanyahu, the speech was more than diplomacy it was psychological warfare, a reminder that Israel’s technological edge and military intelligence can penetrate even the darkest corners of Hamas’s strongholds.

Rejecting the Palestinian Statehood Push

Netanyahu’s speech came just days after Britain, France, and several Western powers officially recognized a Palestinian state. Rather than weakening Israel, this recognition only strengthened Netanyahu’s resolve.

“They have sent a very clear message that murdering Jews pays off,” Netanyahu thundered, accusing European leaders of pushing Israel into “national suicide” by rewarding Hamas’s October 7 massacre. He vowed that Israel would never accept the creation of a Palestinian state that exists only to justify terror.

“Israel will not allow you to shove a terrorist state down our throats,” he said bluntly. “We will not commit national suicide because you don’t have the guts to face down the hostile media and antisemitic mobs demanding Israel’s blood.”

By positioning Israel’s survival against the West’s appeasement, Netanyahu reframed the global debate: this was not about borders or politics but about whether the world had the moral courage to confront Islamist terrorism.

Standing Against Global Hypocrisy

Even as more than 150 nations recognize Palestine, Netanyahu highlighted the hypocrisy of those who condemn Israel for defending itself. He reminded the Assembly that Hamas carried out the bloodiest day in Israel’s history on October 7, 2023, killing over 1,200 Israelis mostly civilians. Yet, instead of isolating Hamas, the international community has sought to elevate Palestinian leadership, including Mahmoud Abbas, whom Netanyahu dismissed as “corrupt to the core.”

Netanyahu mocked Abbas’s virtual UN address and rejected the idea of the Palestinian Authority as a partner for peace. For Israel, Hamas and the PA are two sides of the same coin groups that thrive on anti-Semitism and incitement while keeping their people trapped in endless conflict.

He also took aim at accusations of genocide, reminding the Assembly that Israel repeatedly urged Gazans to evacuate before military strikes. “Anti-Semitism dies hard. In fact, it doesn’t die at all,” Netanyahu said, warning that much of the world’s outrage against Israel was rooted not in humanitarian concern but in age-old hatred of Jews.

Strengthening Ties With the U.S. Amid Pressure

While much of Europe abandoned Israel on the issue of Palestine, Netanyahu turned his focus to Israel’s closest ally, the United States. He praised  US President Donald Trump, who has consistently stood by Israel, and confirmed his upcoming meeting in Washington. Trump, in turn, hinted at progress toward a Gaza deal that would see Hamas disarmed.

Netanyahu’s decision not to address West Bank annexation in his UN speech was strategic. While some of his ministers have called for annexation to block Palestinian statehood permanently, Netanyahu chose instead to keep the focus on defeating Hamas. By doing so, he underscored Israel’s priority: destroying terror before discussing political maps.

At the same time, Netanyahu dismissed Western media speculation about Tony Blair leading a transitional authority in Gaza, making it clear that Israel not Europe will determine Gaza’s future.

Israel Will Not Be Shaken

Benjamin Netanyahu’s 2025 UNGA speech will be remembered as one of the boldest addresses in Israel’s history. While the world sought to isolate him, he turned the global stage into a megaphone for Israel’s truth. He bypassed diplomatic platitudes, spoke directly to Hamas and the people of Gaza, and reaffirmed Israel’s red lines: no to terrorism, no to Palestinian statehood born out of blood, and no to international blackmail.

At a time when critics call him a “defeated man,” Netanyahu demonstrated the opposite: defiance, resolve, and clarity. Israel, under his leadership, is determined to finish the job against Hamas. The message he broadcast into Gaza and across the UN hall was the same Israel is not going anywhere. The Jewish state will not commit national suicide. The war will end only on Israel’s terms, and Hamas will either surrender or face annihilation.
