A new development in the Moradabad molestation case has intensified public outrage as the accused, Adil Saifi has now been identified as serial sexual offender. Day after a video of Saifi sexually assaulting a burqa-clad woman in broad daylight went viral, a second older video has surfaced which shows him harassing another woman in a different alley under similar circumstances.
Second Video Confirms Pattern of Predatory Behavior
The newly surfaced footage, reportedly several months old, shows Saifi following a woman walking down a narrow street and forcibly touching her inappropriately. The incident mirrors the recent assault in Gol Kothi Wali Gali, where Saifi was seen groping a lone woman from behind before fleeing. According to reports, both videos feature the same individual, and the pattern of behavior strongly indicates premeditated, repeat offenses.
Following the first video’s viral spread, police launched a swift manhunt. Adil Saifi attempted to evade arrest on a motorcycle but was intercepted by the Nagfani Police team. During the brief encounter, Saifi was shot in the leg while trying to flee and was later taken into custody. He is currently receiving medical treatment under police supervision.
In a video from the hospital, Saifi is seen begging for forgiveness, but authorities remain unmoved.
Citizens across India, particularly women’s rights activists, are demanding swift justice and tougher penalties for sexual offenders. Many have also highlighted the repeated failure of society and systems to prevent such brazen assaults.
While the swift police action has been praised, the broader concern remains: how many such habitual offenders go unchecked due to fear, underreporting, or lack of evidence?
The Moradabad case has become a grim symbol of the vulnerability of women in public spaces as the need arises to take proactive measures- from CCTV surveillance and community policing to public education and rehabilitation programs; to address the root causes of gender-based violence.
As investigations continue, activists and citizens alike are watching closely, demanding that Adil Saifi’s crimes do not fade into the news cycle but instead trigger real change.
