Preparations are in full swing for the grand “Sanatan Mahakumbh” to be held on July 6, 2025, at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The event is expected to draw lakhs of devotees from across the country, with spiritual leaders, cultural representatives, and various Chief Ministers attending.
One of the key highlights of the Mahakumbh is the participation of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the head priest of the Bageshwar Dham. However, in an interesting twist, he will not be holding a separate audience or ‘Darbar’. Instead, he will be part of the “Hanumat Sankalp” program, where he will engage in an extensive spiritual discussion with the devotees for nearly two hours. Ashwini Kumar Choubey, former Union Minister and founder of the Shri Ram Karmabhoomi Nyas, shared this in a recent press conference, adding that all necessary permissions for his presence have been obtained from the administration.
Celebrating Lord Parshuram’s Birth Anniversary
This grand event coincides with the culmination of Lord Parshuram’s birth anniversary celebrations. The main focus of the Mahakumbh is to promote the revival of the Sanatan culture, social harmony, and national unity. The Governor of Bihar, Dr. Arif Mohammad Khan, will inaugurate the event, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present as the head priest of the Gorakhnath Math. Other prominent dignitaries include Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, several Deputy Chief Ministers, and Governors from other states. The event will be presided over by Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Swami Ram Bhadracharya, who described it as a sacred occasion symbolizing spiritual power and cultural unity.
Special Rituals and Arrangements
The Mahakumbh will begin at 7 AM with a special Yajna ceremony where 108 Parshus (axes), representing Lord Parshuram, will be brought from different villages. These axes will be placed together to form a large symbolic Parshu at Gandhi Maidan. At 9:30 AM, a collective recitation of Hanuman Chalisa and Parshuram Chalisa will take place with the aim of achieving global peace and reaffirming India’s position as a global guru.
In addition to the spiritual rituals, there will be knowledge-sharing sessions focused on the Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads, and Ramayana. Devotees will be given Prasad and as a token of blessing, Rudraksha or Tulsi mala. Special arrangements have been made for differently abled individuals, senior citizens, and women to ensure their comfort during the event.
While entry to the event is free for all, 10,000 special passes have been issued on a priority basis, which can be collected from Patna’s prominent institutions.
A “Social-Cultural Yajna” for National Awakening
Ashwini Choubey emphasized that the Sanatan Mahakumbh is not just a spiritual event but also a “Rashtriya Jagran” (National Awakening) social-cultural Yajna. This program will see active participation from youth, educators, and social activists, fostering a sense of responsibility and unity. The theme of the event, “Parshuram Ki Pratiksha” (The Awaiting of Parshuram), is not just about an individual but about awakening a collective consciousness that stands against injustice.
Choubey also noted that devotees from states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and other parts of the country will be joining the event. A Rath Yatra, which has traveled to different villages, has already gathered widespread interest, and a large number of devotees are expected to attend.
The administration has assured that all security and logistical arrangements have been thoroughly planned for the smooth conduct of the event. This Mahakumbh is being hailed as a milestone in the revival of Indian culture and spiritual awakening.
Conclusion
The “Sanatan Mahakumbh” promises to be a powerful blend of spirituality, culture, and social unity. With key political and spiritual leaders coming together to promote national cohesion and the resurgence of Sanatan traditions, the event is set to make a significant mark on the cultural landscape of India. As Patna prepares to host this grand occasion, the eyes of the nation are set on the historic Gandhi Maidan for this monumental spiritual gathering.
