A controversial incident unfolded in the Eidgah area under the Chiman Ganj Mandi police station in Ujjain district, where Bajrang Dal activists apprehended three Muslim youths allegedly found in an objectionable situation with two minor Hindu girls. The Hindu right-wing organization has accused the youths of engaging in ‘love jihad’ by using fake Hindu identities on social media to lure the girls.
According to Rishabh Kushwah, the district coordinator of Bajrang Dal, the group acted on a tip-off about Muslim youths roaming with minor Hindu girls in the Eidgah area. Upon reaching the scene, activists questioned the youths, who introduced themselves with Hindu names such as Rohit, Rahul, and Raj. However, a check of their mobile phones revealed their Muslim identities and multiple fake Instagram accounts created under Hindu names, allegedly used to deceive the girls.
The situation escalated as a crowd gathered and, upon confirming the youths’ identities, allegedly assaulted them. The Chiman Ganj Mandi police promptly intervened, taking the three youths into custody. Two of the youths were found to be minors, while the third was identified as Sohel, a resident of Jansapura. Police investigations uncovered over half a dozen fake Instagram IDs, chats, and objectionable photos on the youths’ phones.
Station in-charge Gajendra Pachauria confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under molestation charges following a complaint by one of the minor girls. The police are continuing their investigation to verify the allegations.
This incident follows a similar case two days ago in the Vishnu Sagar area, where Bajrang Dal detained another youth for allegedly engaging in objectionable behavior with a woman. In that case, the youth also provided a false name, and his phone contained chats with multiple girls.
The allegations of ‘love jihad’ have sparked heated debate, with such claims often fueling communal tensions. Authorities have urged calm as the investigation proceeds, with further details expected to emerge through the legal process.
