Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has highlighted the strong connection between Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Panch Pran” initiative and the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Speaking at the launch of the book Chhatrapati Shivaji: The Founder of Hindavi Swaraj, Scindia said the Prime Minister’s vision for a self-reliant and progressive India echoes the philosophy of Hindavi Swaraj promoted by Shivaji Maharaj.
During his address at the event held at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Delhi, Scindia praised Shivaji Maharaj as a leader who shaped history rather than simply observing it. He noted that Shivaji’s commitment to creating a kingdom rooted in justice and opportunity for all began as early as age 14, when he pledged to build a realm where farmers, workers, and citizens of all backgrounds could prosper.
Scindia also spoke of India’s modern-day strength in responding to threats, referencing missions like Operation Sindoor as examples of the nation standing firm against external aggression. He underlined Shivaji Maharaj’s enduring influence on the ideology of the RSS, noting that the organization draws heavily from the Maratha king’s vision and values.
The book launch featured works curated by Prof. Omprakash Singh and Dr. Devendra Bhardwaj, aimed at shedding light on Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy and correcting common misconceptions about his contributions. The book Chhatrapati Shivaji: The Founder of Hindavi Swaraj, has been published by Suruchi Prakashan.
Speaking further, Scindia expressed hope that the book would help more people understand the true impact of Shivaji’s leadership.
Reflecting on his personal connection to the Maratha legacy, Scindia shared that his family’s roots trace back to Shivaji’s loyal Mavale warriors. He paid homage to Patilbuwa Mahadji Shinde, a key figure from the Scindia dynasty, who played a vital role in fulfilling Shivaji Maharaj’s dream of Hindavi Swaraj.
The event served as a tribute to Shivaji Maharaj’s enduring legacy in the areas of governance, national pride, and the pursuit of self-rule.
