The Congress party has once again proved its disconnect from the sentiments of the Indian people by sharing a disgraceful and distasteful post targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, right in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 innocent lives.
In what can only be described as vile political opportunism, Congress’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle shared an image of a headless figure meant to represent the Prime Minister, captioned ‘gayab’ (missing), a move that has sparked nationwide outrage and condemnation.
This grotesque depiction comes at a time when the country is mourning a gruesome terror attack, carried out by Pakistan-sponspored terrorists. Instead of standing united with the government to send a clear message to enemies of the nation, the Congress chose to mock the Prime Minister in a manner that alarmingly echoes the violent ideology of extremist outfits.
Slamming the grand old party, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, the Congress has turned into “Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress.”
“Sar Tan Se Juda” imagery? Couldn’t a less visceral visual metaphor have been chosen to make this political point?

The Congress leaves little doubt with its use of “Sar Tan Se Juda” imagery. This is not merely a political statement; it is a dog whistle aimed at its Muslim vote bank and a veiled incitement against the Prime Minister. It is not the first time the Congress has resorted to such… https://t.co/WEgblPq2FX

Gaurav Bhatia did not mince words when he pointed out that such symbolism like posting a headless image invokes the chilling slogan Sar tan se juda (beheading), often associated with radical Islamist terror groups.
“Sharing such an image at a time when the Prime Minister has given a strong message to Pakistan is no coincidence,” he said, accusing Congress of betraying national interests and aligning its tone with India’s enemies.
Instead of showing solidarity, Congress has been busy nitpicking and politicizing national security. Their leaders continue to spew contradictory statements, with no unified voice against terrorism. Jairam Ramesh’s petty attack over the PM’s absence at an all-party meeting only proves how shallow and tone-deaf Congress’s priorities have become. While the Prime Minister returned to India swiftly and continued his campaign, Congress leaders have done nothing constructive except criticize and question motives.
Additionally, when questioned regarding the indecent post, the Congress did not remove it or apologize for it.
Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge did not condemn the offensive pictures or distance themselves from the person or team who created it. Instead, their silence only reaffirmed the BJP’s charge, Congress is engaging in performative outrage while bolstering Pakistan’s narrative.
It is increasingly evident that the Congress is unable to rise above mean politics even in times of national crisis. Instead of lending its voice to India’s war on terror, the party seems more keen on scoring political brownie points. In its desperate bid to attack Modi, Congress has again shown its insensitivity to national unity, its moral bankruptcy, and its growing irrelevance in the Indian voter’s mind.
