Erudite Modi takes on Bickering Rahul Gandhi on debate over Constitution; It was a no match

Constitution: Erudite Modi vs Bickering Rahul Gandhi; it's no match

A rookie often beats his chest and does hallagulla but a seasoned politician just takes a moment and wins it all. The Constitution debate in the Lok Sabha justifies it completely. The topic of discussion was the Constitution which the opposition has been harping as a tool to threaten the people of this country by calling it as endangered under the BJP rule.

However, the new low that Rahul Gandhi registered with his address and the way PM Modi decimated him in one-on-one debate on Saturday, opened the obvious but long hidden reality of Congress that it is least serious when it comes to the interest of the nation.

Prior to PM Modi’s address Rahil Gandhi addressed the house and instead of emphasising on the Constitution and India’s journey in the last 75 years, he stuck to merely hitting below the belt to score brownie points like usual house debates.Criticism of government is his duty and constitutional right but that should be done in context that could make it easy to understand but Gandhi scion only exploited the stage for political mileage. Forget about the Constitution, he didn’t even mention the role of Congress in upholding the values of the law of the land nor did he mention the name of Dr BR Ambedkar in his address.

In contrast, PM Modi’s address was well-prepared, tied to context and to the point. He targeted Congress on range of issues including imposition of Emergency at the 25th year of Constitution in 1975. Moreover, he lauded former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee under whose term, the nation celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Constitution with full enthusiasm.

PM Modi also hit out at the Congress by recalling how Congress leaders objected to his announcement of celebrating 26 November by saying, “What’s the need of November 26 when we have January 26?”

Taking a veiled jibe at Rah Gandhi he said, “It would have been good if the discussion had taken place around the Constitution as it would have guided the coming generation but everyone has their own helplessness, they find opportunity to express their pain.”

The Prime Minister’s statement is actually an eye opener for Indians because most opposition leaders including the LoP in Lok Sabha try to attack the government with full fervour but when it comes to discussion, they either lack substance or flee the ground.

The nation must recall that when the tensions in Manipur were running high, Congress and Gandhi family left no stone unturned to take political advantage of it by mudslinging at the government, they demanded discussion in the parliament calling it a burning issue. They were adamant on seeking PM Modi’s remarks on the crisis, but when the house proceedings were underway and the Prime Minister started speaking, they walked out without listening.

So it is their traditional lack of sincerity on the matters of national security. Nevertheless, unlike Gandhi’s digressing, bizarre anti-Adani cassette and chronologically scarce loud mouthing, PM Modi traced the entire history of Independent India with every instance when the soul of the Constitution was challenged by the ruling govts, which mostly were Congress and precisely of Gandhi family.

— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) December 14, 2024

Busting the opposition narrative of ‘Samvidhan Khatre Mein Hai‘, PM Modi said that the 1st Constitutional Amendment Act was passed in 1951 when the govt was interim and was not mandated by people through election. The freedom of speech and expression was constrained by the then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, which was a disrespect to makers of the Constitution, the PM said.

PM Modi emphasised that the Constitution was changed through the back door after getting power because they were not heard in the presence of towering personalities like those in the Constituent Assembly.

He also shattered Congress propaganda by quoting Pt Nehru’s letter to the Chief Ministers in which he said, “If the Constitution comes in our way, we must change it.” PM Modi further added that even President Rajendra Prasad, Lok Sabha Speaker, JB Kriplani and Jai Prakash Narayan objected to the change in Constitution but “Nehru had his own Constitution.”

The statement was enough to show the naked reality of the Congress and its facade of ‘Samvidhan Khatre mein hai’ when it is the biggest perpetrator of crime against the Constitution.

He then mentioned the 25th Constitutional Amendment brought in 1971 by then PM Indira Gandhi to revert Supreme Court judgement and give final power to the Parliament to amend any part, article and schedule of the Constitution. Notably, the amendment gave power to the government to take away fundamental rights and control the judiciary.

PM Modi didn’t stop here, he emphasised how Indira Gandhi imposed Emergency because of looming threat over her Prime Ministership and how she brought 39th Constitutional Amendment Act to retrospectively snatch the right of judiciary to hear issues related to elections on PM, President, VPs.

Talking about how Congress meddled in the business of the judiciary, PM recalled the episode of how Justice HR Khanna was prevented from becoming CJI despite seniority just because he gave verdict against Indira Gandhi in the MP election case which led to imposition of emergency. PM Modi exhorted Congress stating that it wants a “Committed Judiciary”.

He then mentioned Shah Bano case and formation of National Advisory Council (NAC) above PMO during the Manmohan regime, terming it anti-Constitution. Without directly naming Congress’ Yuvraj, PM Modi also lambasted Rahul Gandhi for tearing down the copy of Cabinet decision, the senior most executive body empowered by the Constitution. In a sharp criticism, PM Modi dubbed Rahul Gandhi, “Ahankari vyakti” (arrogant individual). He said it was even more unfortunate that the Cabinet changed its decision after that.

Citing Congress’ hatred against Dr. BR Ambedkar and UCC among others, PM Modi pulled no punches and listed every crime that Congress committed against the soul of the Constitution to settle the debate on the Constitution and how farcical Congress’ foul cry on this issue has been from the get go.

Overall, PM Modi exposed Rahul Gandhi’s shallow and crude politics around ‘Samvidhan Khatre Mein Hai‘ by countering him on FACTS about Congress’ grave assaults on the soul of the Constitution, that are often deliberately ignored by the Darbari ecosystem. His remarks made it absolutely clear that what Congress and Gandhi family are doing is just pitty politics and they have no sentiment in favour of the people. Once they get power, they would continue their working style of tormenting the soul of the Constitution as PM Modi correctly puts, “Inke Munh Samvidhan Badalne Ka Khoon Lag Gaya Hai.”
