The Indian authorities have repeatedly stated that Canada has been sitting on multiple extradition requests for several Khalistanti terrorists and criminals who fled India to escape Justice. Additionally, New Delhi has been slamming Ottawa for not taking action against Khalistani extremism and terrorism. Now, it seems that India is planning to take steps against Canada’s non-cooperative attitude with the Indian probing agencies. As per The Tribune report, India is planning to corner Canada within the Five Eyes group.
Notably, the Five Eyes is an intelligence-sharing alliance with its members being the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Indian authorities made multiple requests to the Canadian authorities to seek inputs on Khalistani terrorists and radicals harboured in Canada. Now, as per the report, New Delhi is mulling multiple options including sharing the same list of wanted Khalistani extremists settled in Canada with the other Five Eyes countries.
The report citing highly placed sources stated that the aim behind this move is to expose Canada’s non-cooperative attitude and mount pressure on Ottawa.
According to the Tribune, top sources told them that the government is analyzing multiple options. The sources told The Tribune that this is an option which is being looked at and may be taken forward, depending on how the current diplomatic imbroglio between India and Canada pans out.
The sources further explained that by sharing the same list of extremists which was given to Canada, with other Five Eye nations, Canada’s non-cooperation towards India’s repeated requests to share inputs on these elements could be amplified, the report added.
Another aim behind this move is that India is also planning to seek assistance from the other four nations of the grouping so that Canada sees the reason behind India’s request, sources said.
According to the available information, India has sought intelligence from Canada regarding eight extremists/gangsters based in Canada. They are linked to Khalistani terrorism and separatism and have links with Pakistani agents. They include Sandeep Singh Sidhu, Arshdeep Singh Gill, and Lakhbir Singh, all of them are accused of being involved in crimes ranging from extortion to terrorism.
It is pertinent to note that Canada has stonewalled India’s efforts to seek death certificate of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar as the diplomatic relations have been worsening every minute.
