The upcoming Ram Mandir inauguration in Ayodhya has extended invitations to a significant number of dignitaries, with approximately 4,000 saints and 2,200 other guests set to attend, according to Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Ram Temple Trust. This diverse guest list includes the heads of major temples such as Kashi Vishwanath and Vaishno Devi, along with representatives from religious and constitutional institutions.

In a move that reflects the inclusive nature of the event, spiritual leaders like the Dalai Lama, Mata Amritanandamayi from Kerala, and the renowned yoga guru Baba Ramdev have also received invitations.

The inauguration has drawn a diverse guest list, including renowned personalities from the film industry as well. However, the inclusion of actress Alia Bhatt and actor Ranbir Kapoor in the guest list has triggered backlash from some quarters.

In a widely circulated photo, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt can be seen receiving the invitation card from RSS leaders. The couple met with Sunil Ambekar, Ajay Mudpe, Prant Prachar Pramukh of RSS Konkan, and Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, along with producer Mahaveer Jain on Sunday. During the meeting, bouquets were presented to Ranbir and Alia, along with the official invites for the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Pran Pratistha function, scheduled for January 22.

There is growing skepticism regarding the invitation extended to Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor for the upcoming Ram Mandir inauguration. The decision to include them in the prestigious event has prompted inquiries into the actions of the Bollywood couple that merit such an invitation, particularly considering some past statements that have sparked controversy.

Celebrities from the Bollywood industry, including Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Dhanush, Rishab Shetty, Madhur Bhandarkar, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Sunny Deol, Prabhas, and Yash, have received invitations for the Ram Mandir inauguration. The guest list also anticipates the presence of Tiger Shroff and Ayushmann Khurrana. Leading industrialists Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Ratan Tata have been extended invitations. Cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli will be invited, alongside media house owners, senior journalists, and representatives from 50 foreign countries. The Trust is also extending invitations to families of kar sevaks who lost their lives in the Ram Mandir movement, as well as individuals from various fields, including scientists, judges, writers, and poets.

What did Ranbir and Alia do to deserve the invite?

Critics point to a previous incident involving Alia Bhatt, where she was asked about her stance on the construction of the Ram Mandir. Instead of offering a substantive response, the actress laughed off the question, showing an utter lack of respect for such a significant event for the Hindu community. This indifference has led to criticism, with people questioning why an individual who did not express support for such an event is being honored with an invitation.

Adding fuel to the controversy is a statement attributed to Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt’s husband, who claimed to be a fan of beef. Kapoor mentioned his fondness for Peshawari food, including mutton, paya, and beef. This revelation did not sit well with the Hindu community, given the sacred nature of the Ram Mandir event and the religious sentiments associated with beef consumption. Moreover, during the shooting of his film Bhramastra, Ranbir Kapoor also faced denial of entry to the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, owing to his proclaimed love for beef.

This has made the public question about the criteria for extending invitations to such a sacred and significant event within the Hindu community. As the debate intensifies, questions persist about the rationale behind inviting Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor to the Ram Mandir inauguration.
