Liberals cry foul, Venkatesh Prasad stands his ground

Liberals cry foul, Venkatesh Prasad stands his ground
Share on FacebookShare on X

Ah, remember the good old days when the Phogat sisters sent the left liberals into a tizzy with their no-holds-barred takedown of Gurmehar Kaur’s half-baked rants about student oppression? Well, it looks like former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has decided to take a stroll down that very path. And the best part? He seems to be relishing every moment of it!

Venkatesh Prasad found himself in hot water recently when he decided to take on the notorious fake news peddler, Mohammad Zubair, for his nonsensical take on a tweet that Venkatesh had, in a fit of frustration, deleted. But hey, calling out nonsense for what it is seems to be a crime in some circles, especially among those who once called the shots from the lofty realms of the Delhi Press Club or the exclusive Khan Market club of Intellectuals!

These self-proclaimed guardians of virtue swooped down on Venkatesh Prasad as if he had dared to set fire to the Communist manifesto [though, let’s be honest, that would have been an absolute delight!]. Leading the pack were Congress spokespersons, and for obvious reasons, they were none too pleased. Tainted Congress leader Srinivas BV wailed, “How our legends descend into disgrace!”

How our legends descend into disgrace 👇 https://t.co/K8PJuYc6m0

— Srinivas BV (@srinivasiyc) September 10, 2023

But the cherry on top was when propaganda artist, sorry, I mean cartoonist, Satish Acharya, chimed in. He lamented, “I’ve been your fan for decades. And this language broke my heart, Venky sir.” Oh, the drama!

I've been your fan for decades. And this language broke my heart, Venky sir. 😥 https://t.co/Q8pkuoMAsj

However, the real fireworks began when hardcore Islamist turned radio jockey, Sayema Rehman, unleashed a torrent of tweets, or should I say, X-posts. She tweeted, “One by one, all the heroes fall. How disappointing! Look at your language. What a sick mentality! Uncouth and disgraceful.” Ouch, that stung!

But here’s the kicker: Sayema seemed to forget who she was dealing with. This is Venkatesh Prasad we’re talking about! Even in his short-lived cricketing career, he gave the best in the business a run for their money. If the likes of Aamir Sohail and Waqar Younis couldn’t survive him, who is Sayema Rahman?

Judging by his tweets, Venkatesh Prasad was more than ready for this showdown. He responded mockingly, “Are you talking to yourself? But you haven’t even risen to fall.” Now that’s what I call a burn of epic proportions!

Are you talking to yoursef ?
But you haven't risen to even fall.

— Venkatesh Prasad (@venkateshprasad) September 10, 2023

However, the uncouth RJ (radio jockey) wasn’t ready to back down just yet. She blabbered, “From an accomplished cricketer to a troll, what a fall!!! Errr! What a rise! Thank you for making us win some cricket games. God bless you.” To which Venkatesh Prasad replied in his trademark cool style, “Jaisa karenge vaisa bharenge. Aap bhi, main bhi. If possible, don’t be so biased. If that happens, maybe even I will have something to thank you for. God bless you.” Well played, Venky, well played.

But wait, there’s more! When propagandist, sorry, I mean journalist Vinod Kapri tried to come to Zubair’s rescue, Venkatesh Prasad decided to bowl a yorker of his own. He tweeted, “Kapri itna spin karke kya faayda hai. Analogy samajhte ho, patrakarita jo karte ho. Ki bilkul hi wajood bech baithe ho. Main bade run up se spin hi karta tha, toh tumhara yeh spin toh nahi chalne waala.”

[“Kapri, what’s the use of so much spin? Do you understand analogies, considering you sell your profession? I used to spin with a long run-up, so your spin won’t work.]

But Venkatesh wasn’t done yet. When he learned of Vinod Kapri’s antics from a Twitter user named Facts, he couldn’t resist mocking him with a sly tweet, “Muslaman bhaiyoon par Aise galat aarop lagate huye sharam nahi aati? Demeaning Muslims and their place of worship. Kitna aasan hai generalise karke aarop lagana. What you do isn’t journalism, pray ki sudhaar laooge apni soch mein.” [“Don’t you feel ashamed of making false accusations against Muslim brothers? Demeaning Muslims and their place of worship. It’s so easy to make sweeping allegations. What you do isn’t journalism. I pray that you’ll improve your thinking.”]

Muslaman bhaiyoon par Aise galat aarop lagate huye sharam nahi aati @vinodkapri .
Demeaning Muslims and their place of worship. Kitna aasan hai generalise karke aarop lagana .
What you do isn’t journalism, pray ki sudhaar laooge apni soch mein. https://t.co/hZwVxfP4sO

— Venkatesh Prasad (@venkateshprasad) September 10, 2023

And there you have it, folks, the tale of Venkatesh Prasad fearlessly taking on the Twitterati and their high-and-mighty virtue signaling. In a world filled with political correctness and manufactured outrage, it’s refreshing to see someone who’s not afraid to call a spade a spade, or in Venkatesh Prasad’s case, a yorker a yorker. Kudos to you, Venky, for keeping it real!
