When the responsibility of hosting the G20 summit was entrusted to Bharat, it was met with a mix of anticipation and skepticism. Many wondered if our administrators could effectively manage an event of such magnitude. However, as the summit concludes, one thing is clear: We as nation did it! Might be disappointment for those who hoped for a chaotic or divisive G20 summit but the event was conducted with remarkable skill and coordination by both our central administration and security agencies.
The launch of the Global Biofuels Alliance marks a watershed moment in our quest towards sustainability and clean energy.
I thank the member nations who have joined this Alliance. https://t.co/3wgUkmKCyA pic.twitter.com/MOmP1q6g2r

On the second day of the summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered some promising news. He announced that the leaders of the G20 member nations had achieved consensus on a leaders’ declaration. PM Modi expressed his satisfaction with this outcome, emphasizing that it was the result of hard work and cooperation among all participants. Subsequently, he proposed the adoption of the declaration, and it was unanimously accepted by the G20 leaders.
This consensus was especially significant because there had been concerns in the media that the G20 Leaders’ Summit might conclude without a joint statement. Various reports had suggested that differences between member nations, particularly disputes between Russia and Western countries regarding the Ukraine conflict, could prevent a joint communique.
In fact, The Wire, a news portal notorious for spreading fake news, had even claimed that there would be no Delhi Declaration due to the West’s rejection of India’s compromise text on contentious issues. They contended that the text drafted by Bharat on the Ukraine conflict did not meet the expectations of G7 and EU members. However, these claims were proven wrong, as the declaration explicitly addressed the “war in Ukraine”, instead of the “war on Ukraine”, as Zelensky and his Indian accomplices would’ve liked.
But the accomplishments of the G20 summit extended beyond the consensus on the declaration. In a significant step towards clean energy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside eight other heads of state, launched the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA). This initiative, initiated by Bharat as the G20 Chair, also includes Brazil and the United States as founding members. Remarkably, these three founding members together account for approximately 85% of global ethanol production and 81% of its consumption.
Following the launch, Prime Minister Modi took to X to describe it as a watershed moment that propels the world towards sustainability and clean energy. US President Joe Biden, Brazilian President Lula da Silva, and other leaders also applauded this partnership.
Furthermore, during the G20 Summit, a groundbreaking agreement was unveiled. It announced the creation of a rail and shipping corridor from Bharat to Europe via the Middle East, named the ‘India-Middle East-Europe Shipping and Railway Connectivity Corridor.’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside global leaders, introduced this ambitious project that aims to position India as a significant global hub for international business and commerce.
Bharat, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy, and the European Union Commission jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEE EC). This initiative seeks to enhance economic development by strengthening connectivity and economic integration across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
The IMEE EC comprises two distinct shipping corridors: the East Corridor linking Bharat to West Asia/Middle East and the Northern Corridor connecting West Asia/Middle East to Europe. These two shipping corridors will be connected by a railway track in the Middle East, encompassing UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel.
To conclude, the G20 summit hosted by Bharat has proven to be a resounding success. It showcased our ability to manage a monumental event, reach consensus on crucial matters, and initiate ambitious projects that have the potential to reshape the global economic landscape. As the summit concludes, we as pride Bharatiya can indeed say, “We did it!” with pride!
