Can Ravichandran Ashwin make it to the World Cup 2023 squad?

Can Ravichandran Ashwin make it to the World Cup: The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is just around the corner, with less than two weeks to go. Suddenly, the excitement surrounding the tournament and the equations for Team Bharat have taken an unexpected turn. The surprising victory in the Asia Cup 2023 has prompted Captain Rohit Sharma to reevaluate his options.

In a significant development, Captain Rohit Sharma has hinted at the inclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin, a player who left a lasting impression with his small yet pivotal role in Bharat’s historic World Cup win in 2011. Rohit Sharma, in a recent statement, expressed his interest in Ashwin, saying, “As a spinner-all-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin is in the line. I have been talking to him on the phone.”

This decision didn’t come out of nowhere. Axar Patel, who was originally part of the World Cup squad, sustained an injury during the Asia Cup, making his availability for the upcoming mega tournament, starting on 5th October, uncertain. With Axar’s potential absence, Ravichandran Ashwin’s chances of making it to the final squad have significantly increased.

If Ravichandran Ashwin indeed gets selected, Team Bharat could become a formidable contender in the World Cup. Ashwin is a force to be reckoned with, especially on Indian pitches. Despite the presence of specialist spinners like Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla, it was Ashwin who carved out a niche for himself by delivering crucial wickets against formidable opponents like West Indies and Australia.

One of the standout moments in Ashwin’s career came in 2013 when, against all odds, he produced a remarkable spell, taking 2 wickets for just 15 runs. This performance helped Bharat clinch their first full-fledged ICC Champions Trophy, with the previous victory in 2002 being shared with Sri Lanka due to the finals being washed out.

Ashwin’s inclusion could provide the perfect balance to our bowling attack, something that the team has been yearning for over the decades. His ability to adapt to different conditions and his impressive record on home turf make him a valuable asset for the team.

Ashwin’s presence in the squad would not only strengthen the bowling department but also add depth to the batting lineup. His proficiency with the bat and his ability to contribute crucial runs in pressure situations make him a genuine all-rounder, a valuable commodity in limited-overs cricket.

Moreover, Ashwin’s experience in high-pressure situations, both in international and domestic cricket, could prove invaluable during the World Cup. He has been a part of numerous memorable victories for Team Bharat and is known for his calm and composed demeanor on the field.

As the countdown to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 continues, the inclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin in the squad is a topic of great interest and discussion among cricket enthusiasts. While nothing is certain in the world of sports, Ashwin’s track record and his recent form suggest that he could be the missing piece of the puzzle that Team Bharat needs to lift the coveted World Cup trophy once again.

With less than a fortnight to go for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the unexpected buzz surrounding the tournament and the potential inclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin has added a new dimension to Team Bharat’s preparations. Captain Rohit Sharma’s hint at Ashwin’s inclusion has raised hopes of a strong performance in the tournament. If Ashwin is selected, his unique skills and experience could provide the much-needed balance to the team, making them a force to reckon with in the upcoming World Cup.
