Vashisht Temple Manali – Guide

Vashisht Temple is a major temple of Manali which is located about 3 km from the city, let us tell you that this temple is located in the village named Vashishtha which is famous for its magnificent hot water springs and Vashishtha temple. The hot water springs located near the temple are considered extremely holy and have the power to cure any disease. Vashishtha Temple is dedicated to sage Vashishtha, who was the family guru of Lord Rama.

History of this Temple

Vashisht Temple Manali is more than 4000 years old. A black stone idol of a sage wearing dhoti is situated inside the temple. Vashishtha Temple is decorated with exquisite and beautiful carvings on wood, moreover the interior of the temple is embellished with antique paintings. Apart from the Vashishtha temple, there is another temple located here which is known as the Ram temple. The idols of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana are installed inside this temple.

Vashishtha Guru is one of the seven sages of Hinduism and the village is named after him. According to a legend, sage Vashishtha was saddened that his children had been killed by Vishwamitra. Sage Vashishtha tried to commit suicide by jumping into a river but the river refused to kill him. After this the sage started a new life here in the village.

Vashisht Temple Manali Timings

Vashisht Temple Manali opens from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the morning and from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 8:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 7:00 PM in the evening.

Naggar castle

Naggar Castle Jogini used to be a palace which has now been converted into a heritage hotel. Naggar Castle was built around 1460 by King Siddha Singh of Kullu.

Hidimba devi temple

It is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, wife of Bhima of the epic Mahabharata. This temple is located at a distance of about few kms away from this temple.

Manali sanctuary

The sanctuary is located at a walking distance from Manali city center and is an ideal place to explore a variety of rich flora and fauna.

Rohtang Pass

The snowfall here is the center of attraction for the people coming to visit Rohtang Pass Manali. This tourist spot is located at a distance of 51 km from Manali Bus Stand.

Manikaran Sahib Gurdwara

Manikaran Sahib is a famous Gurudwara and pilgrimage place for Sikhs located in Manali. It is situated at a distance of about 82 kilometers from Vashishtha Temple.

Gayatri temple

This temple is one of the oldest temple of Gayatri pariwar. This temple is located at a distance of about 9 kms away from the this temple.

Siyali Mahadev Temple

This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. This temple is located at a distance of about few kms away from this temple.

Gauri shankar temple

This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and Parvati. This temple is located at a distance of about few kms away from this temple.

By Air- The nearest airport from Vashisht Temple is Kullu Manali airport which is at a distance of 55 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Vashisht Temple Manali is Ambala cant railway station which is at a distance of 150 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country. Distance of this Temple from delhi is 570 km.
