Sankat Mochan Mandir Varanasi – Guide
The Sankat Mochan Mandir Varanasi dedicated to Hanuman ji. In this temple, Hanuman ji appeared to Tulsidas ji, the author of Ramcharitmanas. There was also a terrorist attack in this temple in 2006 but Islamic fundamentalists could not stop Hindus from visiting their idol.
History of this Temple
Ram devotee Goswami Tulsidas got Sankat Mochan Mandir Varanasi constructed between 1631 and 1680. It is believed that during his stay in Kashi, Tulsidas used to pour a glass of water on a dry tree after bathing in the Ganges. It has been many days while doing this. In this sequence, one day when Tulsidas poured water on that tree, a ghost appeared from it. He said, “Would you like to meet Lord Ram? I can introduce you to them.
As told by the ghost, when Tulsidas ji reached the patient, he went ahead. At this Tulsidas held the feet of the patient and said, “I know that you are Hanuman, please appear to me.” At last Hanuman ji appeared to Tulsidas ji. On the request of Tulsidas, Hanuman ji got established in that area by taking the form of soil. Only after this Tulsidas got the Sankat Mochan Hanuman temple built.
Sankat Mochan Mandir Varanasi Timings
Sankat Mochan Mandir Varanasi opens from 05:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the morning and from 03:00 PM to 11:00 PM in the evening on all days.
Shubh Aarti is performed at 04:00 AM in the morning and Shayan Aartis performed at 09:00 PM in the evening.
