Gupteshwar Mahadev Mandir Koraput – Guide
Gupteshwar Cave is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Gupteshwar Mahadev Mandir is a pilgrimage centre located 55 km from odisha, Koraput district in the Indian state of Odisha. It is said that its main attraction is the huge Shiva Linga whose size increases day by day.
History of this Temple
The lingam of Gupteshwar Mahadev Mandir was found by the king of Jaipur in the year 1665. Since then people have worshiped it. Apart from the main cave of Gupteshwar, other caves can also be found. According to early history, Lord Rama, walking in the forest with wife Sita and brother Lakshmana, saw the Lingam for the first time and later worshiped it as “Gupteshwar”. Poet Kalidas described the scenic beauty of Ramagiri district in his famous “Meghadutam” where the cave temple is referred to. Later, in the last part of the 19th century, a hunter from the Ramagiri region found the lingam. Since then the people of Koraput region have worshiped the Lingam.
Gupteshwar Mahadev Mandir Koraput Timings
Gupteshwar Mahadev Mandir Koraput opens from 8:00 AM to 12 Noon in the morning and from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 8:30 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 8:00 PM in the evening.

The primary attraction of Koraput district is the Jagannath Temple, known as Sabar Srikshetra, named after the Sabar tribe who built it. The temple is a replica of the Puri Jagannath Temple, Puri, with Ananda Bazar, Swarg Dwar and many more smaller temples.
Dumuriput Hanuman
Temple Dumuriput, a small village situated on NH-26 between Koraput and Sunabeda is famous for its tallest kneeling Hanuman statue in Odisha. This place is famous for Shri Ram Mandir. On the day of Ram Navami festival, Dumuriput attracts thousands of devotees.
Punjisil Falls
Punjisil Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls for travelers. This waterfall is located in Koraput district and is 25 km away from Koraput city. Punjisil is a Village in Dasmantapur Block in Koraput District. An ideal picnic spot for all the travelers to start their exploration of this waterfall.
