Dongargarh Mata Mandir Rajnandgaon – Guide
The grand Mandir of Mata Bamleshwari is located in Dongargarh in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh state. The history of Bamleshwari, the mother of Dongargarh, sitting on the highest peak of the state, is very old.
Although there is a rally of devotees here throughout the year, but about two thousand years ago, there is a different scene during Navratri in this Kamakhya city, which was fragrant with the love story of Madhavanal and Kamakandla. Mother Bamleshwari sits at a height of about 2 thousand feet from the ground in Dongargarh.
History of this Mandir
The love story of Kamkandla and Madhavanal is very popular in history. About two and a half thousand years ago, the city of Kamakhya was ruled by King Veersen. He was childless. He worshiped Maa Durga and Shivji for the wish of children. As a result, he got a son Ratna within a year. Virsen named the son as Madansen. To express gratitude to Maa Bhagwati and Lord Shiva, the king built the Dongargarh Mata Mandir Rajnandgaon.
The history of Maa Bamleshwari Devi Shaktipeeth is about 2200 years old. Two temples of Maa Bamleshwari are world famous in the historical and religious city of Dongargarh. A temple is situated on a hill 16 hundred feet high which is famous as Badi Bamleshwari. The temple located on the level is known as Chhoti Bamleshwari. In 1964, the former king of Khairagarh princely state Mr. Raja Virendra Bahadur Singh established a trust and handed over the operation of the temple to the trust.

Dongargarh Mata Mandir Rajnandgaon remains open from 4 am to 1 pm and again from 2 pm to 10 pm. The temple remains open continuously from 4 am to 10 pm on Sundays.
