In October 2017, the whispers of the ‘women of Hollywood’ got amplified and consolidated at one place against the tyranny of wokeism. The plethora of scandals by erstwhile Hollywood Producer Harvey Weinstein opened up a very dirty closet. Later, his conviction exposed the real faces of the ‘Wokes’.
These fakesters project themselves as the flagbearer of every virtue possible in the world be it championing liberal causes, women or human rights issues. But the reality is that, behind the facade of wokeism, these ‘Woketards’ in Hollywood have trampled the rights of the very class or section they claim to represent, particularly women.
Wokeism smothering Women empowerment in Hollywood
If you are a Hollywood fan, let me throw a quick challenge at you. Drop in the names of at least five Women Hollywood directors in the comment section, can you? Take your time. If you are still falling short in recalling then let me tell you that the fault actually lies with the Hollywood industry. How exactly? Let me explain with numbers.
In the past, Hollywood has seen liberal female pioneers like Screenwriter Frances Marion or director Lois Weber who made their indelible mark on the industry. But with male wokeism taking over the industry, the entertainment biz has become toxic for female artistes. They have to suffer gender inequality including the rigidity of acceptable age-range, appearance on screen, sexual harassment and income parity among others.
As per a media report, in Hollywood, women only directed a meagre 1.9% of the top-100 films. Contrary to that, men account for around 89 percent of screenwriters, 82 percent of editors, and 77 percent of producers in the top-100 films in Hollywood.
Off-screen or On-screen, Women rights have been consumed by Woke fire
Even after giving Hollywood levy on the issue of casting manpower behind cameras, the sorry state doesn’t change for women actresses as well. Many Hollywood actresses have shared their ordeal including how they are pressured to undergo plastic surgery or be ready to be objectified in all manner possible. While other actresses have faced roadblocks in their careers for not being in the good books of these woketards preying on them.
Even after overcoming these obstacles, women artistes, who successfully produce, create or narrate powerful stories, have to face gender discrimination in economic as well as future opportunities.
As per Forbes, in 2018, Hollywood actresses were given nearly one-fourth fee as compared to their male counterparts. For example, actresses were only paid 24.8 cents for every dollar their male counterparts received. Additionally, only 14 women could make it to the list of the 100 highest-paid celebrities that year.

Hijacking the cause
On proper analysis, it is clear as a day sky that wokeism is nothing but ‘a wolf in sheep’s clothing’. It came in to usher a positive change to empower diversity but has turned out to be nothing short of terminal cancer.
Even after heavy intoxication of wokeism in the industry, there is a lack of diversity in Hollywood. And even if it is there, it is just for the sake of it. Diversity has become a way of tokenism and virtual signalling and providing rewards to the ones who are ready to do the bidding of wokism rather than focusing on merit.
Barring the few countable biopics, Hollywood hardly shows women in strong roles. Rather than empowering women, the wokeism inflicted Hollywood has left no stone unturned to objectify women. Unfortunately, the ill consequences of wokeism is not limited to women objectification rather it is more pervasive. The horrific case of Kevin Spacey exposes that even kids are not safe in Hollywood.
So, it is high time that the muck of male wokeism that runs deep inside Hollywood is accepted and cleaned as soon as possible. This can be achieved by exposing more perpetrators of heinous crimes that hide their sins behind the banner of wokeism. Further differentiating between tokenism and empowering diversity based on merit.
