Kaila Devi Temple – Introduction
Kaila Devi Temple is a Hindu temple located in Kailadevi village of Karauli district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The temple is dedicated to Kaila Devi who is regarded as Mahalakshmi or the goddess of wealth.
The most attractive feature of the Kaila Devi temple is the Jagaran performed by Jagatji in the temple. Major attractions of this temple include Hanumanji Temple which is located in the temple premises. The Mandir have houses two deities, one of which is Kaila Devi and the other is Chamunda Devi.
Importance of Mandir
Kaila Devi Temple is dedicated to Kaila Devi, the family goddess of then Rajput rulers of Karauli State. This temple is a marble structured and have a large courtyard with a square floor.
In the month of Chaitra, devotees from different regions of Rajasthan, UP, MP and all over India come on foot to pay obeisance to the Goddess. In the month of Chaitra, an annual fair is held in Kaila village in honor of Kaila Devi. People living in many parts of western Rajasthan worship the Goddess as ‘Kuldevi’.

Best time to visit this temple
The best time to visit the temple is from October to March as the weather in Karauli remains cool during this time. It is not appropriate to visit this temple in summers as Karauli experiences severe heat during this time.

Tourist Attraction near Kaila Devi Temple
- Kedarnath cave:- Kedarnath cave is the original temple of Kaila Devi. It is located 3 km from the city. Devotees come here in large numbers to offer prayers. Now this place was declared unsafe due to danger from animals in the forest of Ranthambore.
- Ranthambore Wild Life Sanctuary:- Kaila Devi Mandir is attached to one side of this Ranthambore Sanctuary. Ranthambore National Park is one of the best tiger reserves in the country located in Rajasthan, which is known for the friendly tigers present here. The chances of seeing a tiger in this reserve are much higher than other tiger reserves in India.
- Mehandipur Balaji temple:- Mehandipur Balaji is a major temple of Rajasthan dedicated to Lord Hanuman. People from all over the country come to this temple to have darshan of Hanuman ji. This temple is situated at a distance of about 95 km from Karauli city.
- Kailadevi Wildlife Sanctuary:- Kailadevi Wildlife Sanctuary is situated near Kaila Devi Temple. It is spread over an area of 680 sq km and this sanctuary not only houses a lot of animals and birds but also houses two rivers, the Banas River and the Chambal River.
- Ramthara Fort:- The fort of Ramthara is situated at a distance of 15 km from Karauli. This grand fort is at least 4 centuries old. A Ganesh temple and a Shiva temple are also located in this fort. The marble idols of this temple are beautifully crafted by the 18th century craftsman.

How to reach Kaila Devi Temple
By Road- Kaila Devi Temple is situated at a distance of 23 kms to the south-west of Karauli. You can easily reach here by local bus or local taxi.
By Train- The nearest railway station to this temple is Gangapur City Railway Station which is at a distance of 35km. The temple is well connected to railway stations from major cities like Delhi, Agra, Mumbai, Chennai, Ajmer, Pali, Jaipur, Ahmedabad.
By Air- The nearest airport to this temple is Jaipur airport which is located at a distance of 160 kms.
