Punah Mushako Bhavah – Ravish Kumar: From being a nobody to being a nobody in 26 Years

Punah Mushako Bhavah – Ravish Kumar: From being a nobody to being a nobody in 26 Years
Share on FacebookShare on X

Ravish Kumar YouTube channel: Hey pals, let us tell you an interesting tale, about a mouse and a cat.

While they were not any different from Tom and Jerry, the mouse was far from being as clever and courageous as Jerry. He found his life miserable and intolerable. He underwent a long penance in order to please Devraj Indra, the God of Gods, and asked for a boon – the life of a cat. Indradev found the request reasonable, and granted the mouse the same.

However, if the story had ended here, probably Ravish Kumar wouldn’t have been the laughing stock that he is today. Confused? You’re bound to be, but that’s natural. As there’s a deep connection between Ravish’s topsy turvy journey from being a nobody to being a nobody AGAIN and this unique cat and mouse tale, which continues to hold relevance since time immemorial.

From a Rat to a Cat

Of late, noted journalist Ravish Kumar mentioned on his Facebook site, “This is my YouTube channel, on which I’m polishing my skills. Slowly my speed will increase. Sometimes through podcast, Sometimes through videos.”

Soon enough, the views increased by leaps and bounds, and the subscribers count increased to more than 2.5 lakh in less than a week. Now you might be wondering why we compared him with the mouse, if his viewership ratings are that successful. There is a reason for that, and a credible one at that.

Well, when the mouse transformed into a cat, he was overjoyed. However, his happiness was short lived, as he was hounded by a dog. He prayed to Devraj Indra again, and asked to him to be transformed into a dog.

This process continued as he turned from a dog to a man and from a man to a lion. The greed for a better life never waned within that creature. The more Indradev gave to him, the more he craved for.

Things came to a point when the creature, once a mouse, had now become a Deva himself. He now aimed for the entire Devalok, since he wasn’t satisfied with his position. It was then that Devraj Indra had had enough and reverted him back to a rat with the words, ‘Punah Mooshako Bhavah’ [Go Back to being a mouse]. In the current context, Ravish Kumar’s situation is far from different.

Ravish’s Journey

But how did this journey actually begin? It all started in 1996, when the trees of liberalization actually bore fruits. One of them was the emergence of satellite television, especially the emergence of private channels in India. Before that, Doordarshan was the only source of telecommunication in India, be it for news or entertainment.

However, with the emergence of satellite channels, everything changed, and Ravish Kumar didn’t hesitate in milking this opportunity for his benefit.  This was the time when he was the mouse of Indian journalism, but wished to become the swift ‘cat’.

Hailing from the small town of Motihari, Bihar, Ravish Kumar’s journey has been quite inspiring for any aspiring journalist. He joined NDTV in 1996 at the age of 22. During his initial days, his primary job was to sort out letters that knocked on NDTV’s mailbox. He observed the art of television reporting every day and after almost 3 years of television reporting, he was given an opportunity in the name of ‘Ravish ki Report’ in 2000.

The show kept becoming bigger and bigger and the common man connected with him because of his show, which was based on the rural adversities of India.

His fact-based reporting and sarcastic commentary marked a new foundation of Hindi television journalism. From political scandals and state or national elections to dedicated programs for social issues, Kumar was arguably one of the best anchors in mainstream media. This was the moment Ravish transformed into the Bilav, or the Cat from the Mushaka that he once was.

Now what? How did he become the ‘Dog’?  Unlike what people perceive, the dog is also a symbol of Loyalty. Remember the 2004 elections, when contrary to everyone’s expectations, the Congress led UPA shocked everyone with a decent victory? Ravish Kumar made the most of that too, and stayed completely loyal to the then administration. It is no secret as to how loyal he is to ’10 Janpath’ even today. One wonders if they pay for his expenses even today.

Now for the Manav and the Deva perspective.

“Aap Sabhi ko Namaskar, Janta ka Wafadar Mai Ravish Kumar.” There was a time when people used to stick to the TV and glued to their couches only to watch Ravish Kumar during his Primetime show.

In a blink of an eye, Ravish Kumar became a media sensation and began to be honoured with multiple awards. He was also honoured with Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award for Hindi Journalism and Ramnath Goenka Award for Journalism.

No wonder he quickly transitioned into a near demigod of Indian journalism. But sometimes, too much of adulation can also become harmful for you in the long run, and that’s where the Devraj Indra angle comes up.

Moving forward to PM Modi’s era, Ravish Kumar, who was once the flag bearer of true journalism, was now reduced to a puppet and Modi-hater.

Now Narendra Modi is no Devraj Indra, but Ravish Kumar did consider him as one, and wanted to overthrow him, by hook or crook, to consider himself as a just, powerful scribe. The change of power had hurt Ravish Kumar a lot.

It appeared as though PM Narendra Modi was his enemy and whoever would dare to utter a word in his support, would be declared ‘Andhbhakt’ or Modibhakt. The term ‘Godi media’, which is often used by the liberal cabal to demean the media, is also one of the contributions of Ravish Kumar.

Also read: ‘Why is Modi so popular?’ Ravish and other leftist journalists ask supremely dumb questions to Prashant Kishor

Fall Back to Being a Rat

It was his frustration that led to his self-destruction. This frustration also made him ruin others’ lives too. During the Pulwama attacks, he was one of those shameless few who openly endorsed the vitriol spread over the martyrs by the Caravan magazine.

Ravish also ordered that the media should not be covering the Indo-Pak issue during the same attacks as it would help BJP to win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Fun fact, the self-declared liberal was himself extremely intolerant towards a passerby in Delhi when he caught him violating traffic rules. The passerby was not only stalked but also heckled by Ravish and his goons.

Ever since Islamists ran an anti-Hindu pogrom in Delhi, left-liberals like Ravish Kumar have been trying to frame Hindus for atrocities suffered by them. Instead of prioritising the news, his focus was to tarnish the image of Hindus by calling Shahrukh Pathan as Anurag Mishra. Once the epitome of ground level reporting, the man now resorted to absolute rumour mongering, just to please his ideological masters, where there were none.

Also read: Ravish is totally responsible for the violence that erupted due to Agnipath scheme

This is nothing. In the year 2019, Ravish Kumar was awarded the Magsaysay Award for Journalism. Once a ground journalist to the one creating ruckus on Facebook, Ravish Kumar’s downfall was equally amazing.

By the way, no one is unfamiliar with the level of journalism Ravish Kumar is doing nowadays.

The person who was once concerned about the citizen of the country is now worried about why he was not invited to Alia Bhatt’s wedding and why there is a “Brahmin Basti” in Delhi? He regularly rants on his Facebook account against PM Modi and Hindus. His comment section is a crystal-clear reflection of his sheer downfall from the highs of ‘Ravish ki Report’, to being another attention seeking ‘LIBEROL’, whom none on the streets care a dime about.

As we say ‘Punah Mushako Bhavah’ to Ravish Kumar, we mean about his journey from being a nobody in the office of NDTV to being a nobody on the social media, seeking enough attention to make ends meet.
