The illegal usurping of entire villages in Tamil Nadu by the Wakf Board has started a domino effect of illegal encroachment. State after state, governments are taking actions to reclaim illegally occupied government or private properties from the clutches of Islamists. Bulldozer action has been the most effective tool in this war against illegal encroachments.
The UP government alone freed up around Rs 662 crore of land from the control of criminals and organised land mafias, that too in just a span of three months. Now, the same stringent bulldozer actions have reached the coastal state of Gujarat.
Bulldozer action in Gujarat’s Bet Dwarka
The Gujarat government has initiated a mega demolition drive in the state just days after proscribing the Popular Front of India (PFI) as a terrorist organisation. The state authorities have demolished several illegal structures that were standing on government property. These illegal built-ups in Gujarat’s Bet Dwarka were involved in PFI-related activities.
In the first phase of the demolition drive, the authorities have demolished a total of 15 encroached structures. The encroachment area was spread over 52 thousand square feet at 15 commercial locations in Bet-Dwarka. Further, the state authorities has removed encroachments on six religious locations.

The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of a heavy police force. Around 1000 police personnel were deployed for security and to avoid any possible threat to law and order.
According to reports, the massive operation was carried out in collaboration with various departments such as Revenue, Panchayat, Maritime, Police, and Power Supply. The officials received intel that the proscribed terror outfit, PFI, was active in the region. The agencies had input that illegal activities were being carried out forcefully by usurping public and government property in the garb of religion.
In the last few years, the area has witnessed rapid encroachment on government land. These government properties were illegally encroached upon to build these commercial and religious structures. They were also carrying out PFI-related activities from these locations.
It is important to note that Bet-Dwarka is a very sensitive place considering the coastal security of the country. Anti-India forces that are inimical to the interests of India have been using the border and coastal areas to smuggle illegal arms, drugs, and fake currency into the country.
A Crackdown on PFI
During the investigation of several riots and communal clashes, the security agencies found PFI imprints all over them. After back-to-back nationwide raids, the security agencies found incriminating evidence, a cache of weapons and hateful pamphlets from PFI linked places. Later, it banned the Islamist outfit for five years.
These demolition drives are a part of a larger action on the ground and the online presence of the banned outfit. Earlier, the security agencies had sealed offices linked with PFI and its affiliated organisations in Shaheen Bagh.

The government and security agencies are putting a death nail to the dreaded outfit PFI. It seems that it has learnt from the mistakes of the past administration and will obliterate PFI completely to avoid any chance of further resurgence of SIMI or PFI by any other nomenclature.
Further, bulldozer actions and relentless arrests of criminals have brought the fear of the law to anti-social and anti-India forces in UP, Madhya Pradesh and other states. So, it is good to see that governments are using the successful template of other state governments to script the success story of the country.
