Congress, till date, is plagued by Nehru Supremacy and dynastic dominance of the Nehru-Gandhi family. All that Congress has done is they nurtured loyalists. And being a Gandhi loyalist was the only way to climb up the ladders of success. But, imagine how the situation would be if the one you think of as a loyalist gives you a massive beating. Well, Sonia Gandhi is the best person to shed light to this experience as once again she is experiencing Narshimha Rao 2.0.
Sonia Gandhi looks forward to pass on the baton
As Sonia Gandhi flew abroad along with both her children, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, for medical check-up and to meet her ailing mother, she left behind a lot of chaos. The timing of the visit has raised eyebrows as the Congress party is gearing up to elect its next president.
Media reports suggest that Sonia Gandhi met Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot behind closed doors on Tuesday and asked him to take over. Congress has to ‘select’ a new president by September 21.
Gehlot gives Sonia Gandhi a massive beating
While there was a massive buzz around Sonia Gandhi handing over the reins of Congress party to the Rajasthan CM. Ashok Gehlot has denied talks with Sonia Gandhi on Congress President position. Gehlot quoted, “I am hearing this from the media. I do not know about this. I am fulfilling duties that have been assigned to me.” and referred to the meeting that created the buzz as a courtesy visit before coming to Gujarat.
Amid these speculations, Gehlot has also laid the responsibility onto Gandhi scion, Rahul Gandhi. Gehlot has earlier stated that, “if Rahul Gandhi does not become the party president, it will be a disappointment for Congressmen in the country. Many people will sit at home and we will suffer.”

5 reasons why Ashok Gehlot as President may have helped the Congress
What has Ashok Gehlot done? Has Gehlot denied the post of Congress President? No, actually he has saved himself from becoming the captain of a sinking ship. But, for Congress it was a masterstroke. Gehlot is a Gandhi loyalist and has led from the front when the family was in dire need. So, while fulfilling the desire of a non-Gandhi Congress president, Gehlot would have transformed himself into Manmohan 2.0. Making Gehlot the party head would also have been a redressal of G-23’s grievances. This move also sought to solve the Rajasthan crisis as once Gehlot is pulled into central leadership, it would be easier to hand over Rajasthan to Sachin Pilot.
