So far Digvijay Singh and Shashi Tharoor are seen in the fray, but after a meeting of G-23 leaders like Anand Sharma, Manish Tewari, Prithviraj Chavan and Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday night, the entry of a third candidate for Congress president election cannot be ruled out.
According to reports, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge is also going to enter the Congress president election. It is being said that he too can contest for the post of National President of Congress. He has also met Sonia Gandhi last night. Two-time Lok Sabha and one-time Rajya Sabha MP and eight-time MLA Mallikarjun Kharge, however, has not yet taken a final decision on contesting for the post. Kharge has lost the Lok Sabha elections only in 2019. Kharge has also been the former State Congress President and Union Minister of Karnataka.
Although it is still difficult to say anything, but any person can submit his nomination today from 11 am to 3 pm. The situation will be cleared by 4:30 pm today.
